Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

We're doing re-runs cause I did some more painting this afternoon, and am pitching stuff and packing stuff in the kitchen. Oven stuffer roasters are great for providing leftovers!

I heard you out playing the fiddle... was nice!

Our project today: Take out one of the apple trees in the back forty so the horses can be put back in there.

Still loaded with apples.

The one little apple tree remains, the one we might move. It's done with apples for the year and safe... for now.

Made a vey big pile. All the branches with apples got tossed ~over~ the fence, and the thousand that fell on the ground all got raked up... Well, mostly... The horses might find a few out there if they dig.

Cyn coming out through the new gate for the first time.... Rushing through in case it bites her. ;~)

Horses digging around for apples. They found a few, but we got most of them. Not enough out there to make them sick now.

Not quite.

...Got a call out of the blue from phone guy while I was on my way home from church saying he was on his way back from Seattle and asking if I wanted to grab a cup of coffee or something. He had his fiddle and we ended up playing for awhile and talking for awhile, and never did end up going for coffee. It was nice to finally meet him! Whether we'll do this again anytime soon remains to be seen, but...I had fun.

So...I guess the fortune cookie thingie was right. ;-)

...So much for introducing people to the idea of the trailer and my poor housekeeping habits slowly, though. Oops. But it was the easiest option, rather than trying to find a park or something where we could play, plus I had to come here anyway to get my instrument.

Heh...yep. Warts and all. Can't say I hid anything.

In any case, like I said, we'll see if we do anything again soon. But at least the ice is broken.

Broken ice is good. He should have given you more notice!
Let us know :~)

Did you see the straw I got? It's the sweepings of the floor at the feed store. Thought it might be the right amount for the dog house - a buck a bag.

...Of course, now I'm thinking of a lot more things I wish I'd had a chance to ask and to talk about and that I should have said.

Yeah...I guess he thought he would be busy in Seattle until too late to stop by, so it was a spur of the moment thing. Worked out OK, though I'd have preferred to have a tidy house!

Yeah, got the straw - looks good! I put some of it in, but think I may save some of it for once what's in there gets tromped down a little. Thanks! I owe ya!
