In the "about dang time Corin got some good news" Department:
I lowered my cholestrol.
232 to 199
Doctor says I don't need drugs (not that I was taking them anyway).
So, there's that.
We're just back from vacation, part II. We ended up going right back to the same county in PA because we enjoyed it so much. This time we stayed (camped) at one of the state parks. PA does *such* a nice job with their parks. Ah love 'em. While there we did some shopping for land/vacation cabins. No decisions or purchases yet, but I do have a question for whomever might be able to answer it:
Have you ever used a pellet stove for heat? How did your experiences compare to wood or gas/propane?
Good for you! It is about dang time Corin got some good news!
Congrats! That's nifty.
I just called the Goodyear, and they said my van's about done. Got time to run me over in half an hour or so?
Sure..... I'll meet you at your gate in 15. :~)
I'll be ready...
Wooohoooo! I think this calls for a dose of cholesterol medicine!!
I found this funny emoticon on the Fitzmas thread
*-O(( :-{>. . . .)
Kaboom!
We love the area of Pennsylvania up north and west of Scranton, near Adams State Park, and the area east of Wilkes Barre, around Tobyhanna State Park.
When we lived in NJ, we used to drive over and camp in the parks owned by Penn. Power and Light. They were great because you had electricity and water at each site, and they had nice food lockers up off the ground. There was one just South and West of Harrisburg, on a tidewater of the Susquehanna River that was gorgeous, with a stream that rushed down from the mountains and created a neat waterfall.
Heh, that would cause some havoc, wouldn't it?
I've only seen a pellet stove in use once. It did a good job of putting out a good deal of heat, but as I recall, it's quite a bit more pricey than just heating with wood. Less messy, though, and most likely more efficient.
And with gas prices going up, maybe they make a lot of sense price-wise, I dunno!
Like our wood stove back home, it wasn't attached to any other system, which meant the warmest room was the one with the stove. But I almost rather like that system...means people congregate in the livingroom or kitchen, which is cozy and homey...and I like it to be a little on the chilly side in my bedroom.
We're currently in love with Tioga and Potter counties in PA. The leaves are starting to turn. *sigh* just gorgeous.
Big'ol and I have both used wood stoves at various points in the past. Big'ol heated a house with it when he lived in PA. Me when I worked for the scouts in NM - we did all our cooking on a wood stove. I was kind of spoiled because we had an inexhaustible supply of labor for chopping. (Scouts will do just about anything for cookies) We're looking at pellet stoves 'cuz Big'ol has had enough chopping wood for a lifetime.
Yeah, that's true - it does save you the chopping! And feeding. The one I saw had a sort of hopper to feed the stove. Didn't have to do much to add more fuel or adjust the heat. I imagine they are a lot easier to keep at an even heat level than wood can be, too.
He's a smart feller!
CSI Season premiere! Woohooo!
This calls for a dose of cholesterol medicine too!
Remind me not to write another story where half of it is written in the first person from the point of view of an amnesiac.
Characters who have no memories to dwell on or have flashbacks to, and not much to do in the present...are really pathetic after awhile, no matter how fascinating their past life may have been.
This was the photo used on the front page of a SW Virginia newspaper.
*snort*
That's great news, Corin! Glad to hear it. You were looking pretty darn healthy the other week. I think. My memories are hazy.
