Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Was that a 2J spam? I can't believe it.

Good morning! Ugh, I slept way too late. Should have been up before 7 but I'm feeling a little drained lately.

Well, it was cold outside the covers and dark and I was just going to stay there until Talon was done showering so I could have mine and next thing you know it's an hour later.

Heh... no... not this morning.

I need to figure out where I'm going to hang our clocks and maybe do that. And a last sweep for trash before they come. We have a huge pile of recylcables out there - they take cardboard, paper, plastic, glass, you name it, and with all the things we were unpacking this weekend it looks like Christmas hit us or something.

And I have some cooking and baking plans to work out later. I have all the ingredients I need now to make bread but not sure I have a bowl big enough to let it rise in.

You're making a home depot run tonight aren't you? Add that to the list.

it's not as much fun doing it for someone else as it would be to redo it for yourself!

True, but we've been giving some series thought about doing remodeling for a living when we get down to MS, so this is good practice for us. We'll have the ability to purchase a home or two, since they are MUCH less expensive there than here, remodel them, then sell them. Kinda like "Flip that House"!

The biggest problem people are having on the coast right now is suitable housing, and those with houses are having a devil of a time finding anyone to do remodeling work. We don't want to do remodeling work for someone ELSE; way too demanding! We'd prefer to buy one of the gutted houses, or just an older, run down home, remodel it, then offer it for sale. We can do all of the work needed, so we don't have to wait for subcontractors. About the only thing we might contract out is sheetrock finishing; we could do it, it's just a pain in the butt! Depends on how much they charge. Since they are in great demand, they can charge a lot more.

The best thing for us is that the towns are not requiring that you use licensed electricians and plumbers, so SirKit, who can do all things electrical, can do that work, then do the basic running of pipes for plumbing. We'd just get a licensed plumber to connect to the town water and sewer supply lines, or to the natural gas lines, to meet all codes, and just to be careful. He can check all SirKit's work for the town's approval. We also have to have a licensed electrician come in and 'bless' SirKit's work before we could get the approval from the town. So there's a definite bidness opportunity for us, and I daresay we'll be more efficient at it since it will be our only source of income. ;o)

Ha! I just realized it!

I thought today was the 22nd and then realized my error and just hit back and reposted the correction...then didn't come back till just now due to embarrassment.

That sounds real good, to do some remodeling and selling if you like that kind of work!

I agree with you on sheetrock texturing... Some things are better hired out. The guys who came in and did ours had all the tools and the space suits, and were wham! bam! done in a couple hours.

I'm almost ready to go. I do want to go out and just stick everything in the van into a bag and bring it in the house so it's out of the way...still have atlases (altasi? Heh...) and such things floating around.
