I had awful flat feet as a child... they still are prone to hurting a lot and I walk funny, I sort of put my whole foot down at once if I don't concentrate. I know it contributed to me not liking physical activity. I am glad you caught this with him now.
Speaking of physical activity maybe I will go for a walk now, the weather is just so lovely today.
He likes to ride bikes too...
Did they ever put you in any kind of orthotics? That's what I think they're going to try with Matthew...just a guess at this point though...we're still in the assessment mode.
It was nice...and Matthew was the one that told him. He told him how he'd started falling down and I bought him those shoes. Matthew pretty much did all the talking, I was pretty pleased with how he handled it.
They suggested it at one time but my parents' insurance didn't cover it and we never got around to getting the money... they've gotten a lot better in recent years and I think half my foot trouble now is being overweight and I'm working on that.
Tycho Brahe is a fun one to learn about. He died after a banquet where he had too much to drink, for reasons of etiquette could not leave the table, and his bladder exploded. I like to tell people about him at movies while waiting for the previews to start.
ROFLOL!!!
I gotta tell Matthew!!
He made 100%!
Good job Matthew!
He just roared when I told him!
He's taking 8th grade science, because the 7th grade science is life science and he isn't mature enough for the content yet. (He woulda been in the 5th grade had I put him in public school...he coulda been in the 6th but his birthday just barely made it and I woulda held him back. If that makes any sense.)
Heh, people would always ask me what grade I was and I'd stare at them.... "Well, I'm doing 10th grade science and 9th grade writing and we're studing American history this year and I'm learning trigonometry. What grade is that?"
LOL!! Exactly! That is exactly what happened yesterday at the doctor's office. The doctor asked him "What grade are you in?" and "Matthew replied "Well, that's rather hard to describe." Then he told him as best he could but even he gets confused.
He's in:
6th grade spelling
7th grade English/Lit
7th grade World Studies (World history/geology)
8th grade Pre-algebra
8th grade Science
9th grade Latin
Eventually I just started giving my age and shrugging. That list looks pretty similar to what I was probably doing at Matthew's age!
I bought a shiny new cookbook today. I have a few good basic cookbooks but I wanted one with Asian dishes. Now I need a wok ;-)
Did you have one of those earlier in the afternoon? ;o)
Many moons ago, I ordered a wok off the tv, from an informercial. It was called, and I'm not kidding, "The Great Wok of China". That sucker is HEAVY! I think I have had it over 30 years now. I love it!
Hee! That's great. I think a shopping trip is in order... I need that and a set of good mixing bowls and I will really be in business!
I love having someone to cook for. :-D
It IS nice, isn't it?
Uh-huh. It sure is. Especially since he appreciates my cooking more than my brothers did.
I still can't cook for two but that's perfect, we're both having leftovers for lunch and I think we're doing ok food-budget wise.
It means we probably won't be leaving here before mid-Nov. We're gonna spend a couple of weeks in Oct. down in AL. Some of SirKit's family is getting together the second week in Oct. and David is going to drive over from TX near the end of that week to see them, too. The next weekend, we're gonna fly Clare up from school during a short break they have after mid-terms and David will be able to visit with her before he has to go back to school.
So we'll have a couple of weeks of rest, then head back here to do the final push for getting the house ready to sell. I've been painting doors and trim today, and had to take some Advil because my hands HURT! But this is good for us, we're learning a lot about designing for selling, which may come in handy on the Coast!
Oh dear! Well, all I've heard said money spent in the kitchen is never wasted in resale, but jeepers, it's not as much fun doing it for someone else as it would be to redo it for yourself!
Well, I'm back.
I dropped Stephen off at Ben and Anne's and hung out for awhile before saying goodbye. *snif*
Have I mentioned I hate driving at night? At least the worst of the rain held off until I was most of the way back. I was really white-knuckling it for the last little bit.
