Sounds like a plan.
Little brother just called. In a bit they're bringing him halfway down, and I'm going to go pick him up - have him spend the night tonight. That way we can hang out a bit.
Should be back by eight-thirty or so. I hate driving in the dark...hope that works OK...
Oh - wow! So are you taking tomorrow off too?
I worked very, very, carefully with a heat gun, set on low heat, and a putty knife (both of which we could lend you.) Most of the glass we have is about 75 years old and I don't know if the older glass is thicker or stronger, or if the glaze was just more rotten. I just wore garden gloves and kept moving the heat gun up and down the rotten putty til it softened and worked it out with the putty knife. If I ever do it again I would wear a mask to cut the lead paint vapors. If you have good, firm glazing, I'd leave it.
Is Stephen coming for a visit? Cool! Tell him HI for me! If it's Bilbo, tell him Hi, too!
Yeah - tomorrow is the day I get to hang out with him. He flies out Thursday.
Okay. I think leaving it is the best option.
This started because I was losing the - ahem- "glazing" on one of the front windows. It was coming away from the glass and I could peel it off. I think they just used latex caulking. So I removed what I could just using my fingers.
So now I'm on a caulking-glazing-painting mission. I'd been thinking about the weatherstripping problem for a while.
Maybe I'll even get the living room windows open this fall.
Demon rodent!
Wow, that should be fun! Glad you have a chance for more family visits.
Another day of organizing and cleaning here for me. I need to do something job-related to at least make me feel like I'm trying hard. And thank you notes. And a shopping run. I need socks and an Asian cookbook.
Let's see... today's Wednesday...
It's official.
There are not enough hours in my day.
Heh... that's how I felt last night. Was up a little late and now I'm still a bit tired.
With the campaign heating up, my blogging has taken on a life of its own. I just can't go home, take care of all the chores and ~then~ blog for 3-4 hours.
Today is a regrouping day of sorts.
So....is your blog worth more now?
Hmmm. Got dinner started (almost used chicken boullion instead of beef; need more caffeinnnnnne), started laundry, organized the bathroom closet, put lye down the shower drain, and moved one shelf of stuff from the living room to the computer room. Maybe I will be productive today after all.
The Instrument stopped last night so I had to restart it. Am waiting for data....
~sip~
Gives you more time to wake up.
Wow, it's a beautiful day here. Bright blue, no clouds. A little chilly but I found my other jackets so I'm good. I'm working on reorganizing the kitchen. I'm going to need some supplies sooner or later... hmmm...
We have rain, fifty degrees. Guess summer is over. ;-)
I'm up, writing. Guessing Stephen will be up in a sec...he's not quite as much of a morning person, but not a nightowl, either.
Last night I introduced him to Jack Bauer, just one episode. Not sure what he thinks so far...and we don't exactly have *time* to watch a whole season, so that was probably a dumb move. Heh.
Good morning all!
So what are you and brother going to do today? Gonna take him anywhere? BTW I called, and we're set up to take your van to the place in Tumwater tomorrow am.
Heh... so you may be in the house cramming Jack Bauer all day?
Heh... introducing younger siblings to new vices, excellent.
Hmmm... I need some little nails. I bet there are some in the garage. And I need a stepladder so I can reorganize the cabinets. I hate being short sometimes.
