Too bad Texas-OSU wasn't.
Things we learned last night:
1) A phenomenal QB can overcome a 2nd-rate coach and carry a team to a fluke mythical Nat'l Championship.
2) The best defensive coordinator can't overcome a 2nd rate coach, especially when phenom goes pro and the best secondary player is a fool who gets himself suspended.
3) Deciding to go party at 3am with dopers is foolish.
4) OSU is darn good.
5) OSU is better than Texas, regardless of suspensions. The final result should not have come as a surprise.
6) Colt McCoy played much better than Vince Young would have if last night had been VY's 2nd game as a freshman.
7) Odds of Colt reaching Young's level in his college career: 10000 to 1.
8) If Vince Young had returned to school, OSU would have lost last night.
9) Texas suspended one of their star players for one of the 20 biggest games in school history after being caught in a car that had dope. Oklahoma kicked their starting QB permanently off the team right before the season started for taking money from a booster. OSU's star QB last night was busted in late 2004 for taking money from a booster. OSU suspended him for a meaningless bowl game and then a warm up game the next season, reinstating him for the big game against Texas. Pretty shameful when a program has less integrity than sordid Oklahoma's!
10) OSU fans riot and burn after a big win. No such thuggery occured with fans in Texas last year (or any year.)
Food for thought!
Jags boring it on.
I don't know about your point 8. Who knows. Point 10 is right on--OSU fans are rowdy. I expected things to get worse in Austin last night than it did--the Bus did get lit up though.
