Perhaps he's a good Catholic.I'm a Catholic, and Catholics are allowed to separate from a spouse who has refused, over a long period of time, to desist from moral turpitude.
We are not allowed to remarry.
If the chief is a Catholic, and he has children and his wife has refused over a long period of time to desist from this behavior, he has an obligation to leave with the children for their sake.

LOL - I'm a Catholic too, and know you are as well. A spouse is supposed to help the other person "get to heaven". If St. Monica could pray for 30 years, seems like deserting his marriage as you suggest is a cowardly way out.

Leaving aside the fact that St. Monica's situation was different - her husband was a ill-tempered man who refused to listen to her witness and who was bad with money, but he was not a complete moral degenerate and he grudgingly respected her - if there are children involved, it is the only option.
