OK, here's a thread where all the Steve Irwin bashers can post away to their hearts content. Please leave the threads titled "In Memory..." or "Tribute to..." alone.
Not every single thread about Steve Irwin on FR has to include the incident of him holding his son in the croc enclosure, a mention of Darwin, and/or the word "Fool"
Sometimes the old saying is true "If you can't say something nice about someone, don't say anything at all."
They were trying to!
(around your neck) ;)
If you dare criticize the Baby Croc moment on some threads, you would think you were a gun-grabber or something.
As if we are trying to take away these noble Americans' inalienable right to hold their baby in one arm and to feed raw meat to a man-eating crocodile in the other.
"You'll take away my right to do this when you pry my dead baby from my cold dead fingers."
If they want to do that, fine. I am exercising my inalienable right to say it is stupid.
I saw last night on Animal Planet a few shows on Steve. I loved watching him, my kids loved watching this crazy Aussie doing what he loved to do. I used to work at a steel joist plant, and we all sat around at breaks, lunchtime, talking about what this wild man did. "Did you see the show when Steve.....", "Would you ever do what Steve did last night........."
They showed last night the Baby Bob incident. Steve explained that they just got finished feeding the croc, and it just came to him to do it. I really did not see it as dangerous as what most people see it. If there was anyone I would give my baby girl to when it came to crocs, it would be him.
Steve will be missed, his family is more that just his relatives.
Flame me if you like, but I just had to post this.
Terri Irwin said that most people have dogs in the backyard and they introduce the new baby to their dogs. The Irwins have crocs in their backyard (they live in the zoo compound). Sooo, when do you start teaching the kids about the animals? If you wait too long, they're fearful because the animals are unfamiliar. If the animals are always around and in view, they learn respect and knowledge not fear.
So I'm not the only one who keeps a "Rotten Humans List" after all!

I mean no disrespect...but should a child NOT be afraid of a crocodile? And how many kids get mauled by "friendly" Dobermans and Pitt Bulls?
Plenty.
No not really. You want them to respect the animal for what it is. It's an animal that can and does kill. Knowledge means that you are aware that it's dangerous and know it will defend itself. Irwin was trying to teach that animals aren't senseless killers. If they kill, they do so for a reason, usually because a human behaved or reacted out of fear or ignorance. He wanted his children to work with him as he had worked with his parents. If they were fearful and untaught, they couldn't do that. Fearing an animal won't save you but knowledge and respect for what they are will.
I would only add this to your title:
"And I Want To Do My Part to Validate the Left's View of Us as Arrogant, Heartless, Pompous, Self-righteous Asses"
not enough room, trust me, it would have been an even better headline if I had more character space!
I keep trying to send the asshats over here, but they seem to think it's fun to post on the other memorial threads....
Which is why they're called asshats I guess?
I don't remember the thread, but you gave a response to one of these [deleted]s that is the best I've seen. It was curt, acid, to the point. What contemptible, miserable jerks.
Did it have to do with broomsticks and splinters?
Mmm... < thinking > -- no.
Well, ya'know, we all realize it wasn't his finest moment. We've known that for - oh - how many years now? It's just that, he's dead now. Time to let it be.

If he didn't want it talked about, why did he tape it?
