Wisconsonians can be picked out of a crowd

I guess. I happened to be in Madison during the Bush/Gore presidential debates. In the student union, I overheard a guy talking to his mom on the phone about the debate. I am (almost) ashamed to say that my first thought was, 'people who talk like that shouldn't even have the franchise.' I'm used to dealing with internationals with all types of accents. My late mother-in-law was from the UP in Michigan, so it's not like I haven't heard some strange midwest speech before, but this took the cake. I ended up standing to the side and listening to this guy because I'd never heard anything like that accent before.

My apologies in advance for offending anyone from Wisconsin.
