Woods Calls for Drug Testing
LA Times ^ | 08/26/06 | Thomas Bonk

There is no drug-testing policy on the PGA Tour, and when Tiger Woods called for one this week at the Bridgestone Invitational, no one should have been surprised, according to Woods' agent, Mark Steinberg of IMG.

"There's a lot out there right now, with BALCO, the cycling and the sprinters, so what he's saying is, 'Start with golf, start with me. I'm clean and I think the sport's clean,' " Steinberg said Friday.

" 'If people are speculating about golf, let's get it over now.' "

Nervous now that the PGA has received its first bit of heat? Why is that? IS it because Tiger played the deep rough at Medinah like the other pros played the fairways? How does he keep the clubface square through that stuff when no one else can?

LOL!!! I sincerely doubt the one thing Tiger Woods is is nervous. He's probably pissed that 1% of the golf fans out there are jealous of him and making up stupid accusations without any PROOF.

I was defensive too as I grew up and learned that pro sports are not as pure as I thought as a child.....you'll get there.

LOL. Keep talking down. You're still a joke and when Tiger wins again you'll disappear again.

Oh yeah I forgot

SCOREBOARD!!!

LOL, what the hell does that have to do with ANY ONE THING on this thread?????

LOL!!! You are really pathetic you know that? You can't win the Tiger is on steroids argument so NOW you are trying something else. Pathetic pathetic pathetic.

Show me a LINK where the PGA said that it was OB. You won't be able too. haha.

I have a tee time coming up, so I'm going to drop off. I'll be looking for the link from the PGA that says that shot was OB. I'm SO sure you'll find it. LOL

Just to put you out of your misery....

"Rules official Slugger White said the clubhouse has never been deemed to be out-of-bounds. In fact, he said Woods' ball could have bounced across Warner Road and onto the North Course, and it still would have been in play.

Adding to Woods luck was that rules official Mike Shea said the ball was located -- or enough evidence to figure out what happened -- seconds before the five minutes allowed to search for a lost ball.

If the ball had been out-of-bounds or lost, he would have had to go back to the rough and play his fourth shot, and Woods likely would have made double bogey at best."

read it and weep hater!!!

Take some roids before your tee time...may improve your game like it has your heroes.

Thanks for all the research on the shot....I could give a rip about it. just figured I'd stir you up.

That's rediculous. He was unbeatable from the beginning. With Woods as an exception, and I very much don't think he's on roids, very few golfers look like they've been doing any kind of workout at all, let along steroids

Getting in shape has been the latest trend.....look at Adam Scott, Bads, Duval, Villegas, etc.

Even the old guys have become gym rats....Jansen, Lehman, Singh.

The days of the beer drinking golfer like the Merry Mex are over.

Funk is 5 inches shorter and about 20 pounds lighter than Woods and he is on average being outdriven by Woods by 40 yards off the tee.

Nobody can deny the bigger guy can have an advantage in golf when it comes to distance. I'm shorter than Funk.

But is Woods roided up? I seriously doubt it. Heck there are guys that out drive Tiger on average.

But if I had a swing like Tiger. heck if I had a swing like Camilio Villegas ( 5' 9", 160 lbs 306 yd average drive) I would be competitive no matter what the size.

Is Villegas roided up?

Is there temptation? yea probably.

Here look at this link which is a pound for pound, height for height comparison of big hitters. weight, height, driving distance comparisons The bottom line is , it's all about the swing.

You can be roided to high heavens but if you don't have the swing your going nowhere. I've played a lot of rounds where I whipped my buddies who were up to 8 inches taller and 70+ pounds heavier and a bunch stronger than me because the bottom line again, their swing sucked compared to mine.

Tiger has one of the best swings I've ever seen a golfer have bar none, not Nicklaus, not Palmer, not Trevino, not Price. That is why he is position to win so much not because he is roided up.

IS it because Tiger played the deep rough at Medinah like the other pros played the fairways? How does he keep the clubface square through that stuff when no one else can? It's called practicing 6 days a week and lifting a ton o weights. Besides, in case you were out of it, he wasn't that bad a golfer in the late 90s before he started working out more to get stronger. There's a ton that suggests he isn't on steroids, and nothing except your lame arguments that suggests he is

Hence the temptation to gain an unfair advantage as Nick Price said.

But is Woods roided up? I seriously doubt it. Heck there are guys that out drive Tiger on average.

No one in the top 20...Wood's entire game is superior to any of the other big hitters....HE can stop a 3 iron at 250 yards..thats how he won the Open...the other big hitters can't do that......and his strength allows him to keep his club face square through the nastiest rough on tour. He can cut shots out of the thickest rough out there.

But if I had a swing like Tiger. heck if I had a swing like Camilio Villegas ( 5' 9", 160 lbs 306 yd average drive) I would be competitive no matter what the size.

Villegas is on the juice too ...sorry to tell you. Roids are not just for the pro wrestler anymore

Here look at this link which is a pound for pound, height for height comparison of big hitters. weight, height, driving distance comparisons The bottom line is , it's all about the swing.

OK, just like in baseball, roids will not supply the technique.

Tiger has one of the best swings I've ever seen a golfer have bar none, not Nicklaus, not Palmer, not Trevino, not Price. That is why he is position to win so much not because he is roided up.

As does Barry Bonds....why does he juice?

OK....but the PGA is now on the defensive....why?

I think many are not willing to look the other way anymore.

I believe he's on roids...its a fair observation. He's the strongest player on tour and does things that no one else can. I thought Bonds, Mc Guire and Sosa were doping before the baseball scandal.

I think I'm entitled to make that observation.

I still don't understand your obsession with Tiger...he's simply going to be the greatest golfer in the history of the game.

He's got another 15 years probably to play on the regular PGA tour, I hope we don't have to listen to your no evidence, nonsense braying for that long! Is it possible you just don't like Cablanasians?

OK....but the PGA is now on the defensive....why? Uh, because they're being attacked, maybe? I believe he's on roids...its a fair observation. He's the strongest player on tour and does things that no one else can. He also is the most talented and trains the most. A bit of a cause and effect type thing, ya know... I'm definitely not saying golf is free from steroids. I'm not naive, but I also don't think it's as rampant as it was/is in baseball, and possibly is in football. I don't, however, see anything at all that makes me think Woods is on steroids, especially since he's always been this good, even before he started doing a more intensive strength program

Youare correct...he has always been this good with one exception....control and strength out of the rough and his short game.
