Yes FReepers and FReeperettes, its time once again for another season of Survivor.
This time they are in the Cook Islands, in the middle of the South Pacific.
I was going to start off this thread by informing you all about how Mark Burnetts Production Company has decided to split the tribe along ethnic backgrounds. But that subject has been pretty much beaten to death on at least three different threads. So. . . .
I would like to point out that for all their talk about minorities not applying to the show as much as whites and about how they had to send their casting producers out to round up minorities, they apparently didnt have to look too far.
Of the 20 contestants recruited for this season, no less than 13 are from California!
And of those 13, NINE are from the greater Los Angeles area!
So much for diversity!
Hey Cuz, you're up and at 'em early. Thanks for the recap. Jonathan is turning into a player's dream to be against in the final 2. Have a great week!
Any consideration given to the possibility that there may be a final three instead of a final two - the potential jury pool has a total of 10 members if there is a final two. Why would the producers accept the possibility of a tie vote at the end???? If there's a final three, there could still be a tie ( 3-3-3) but it would be much more unlikely. Just wondering......seems the jury numbers this time is waaaaayyyyy different.........
Ozzy participated in a dating show for the Playboy channel and let's just say he got lucky on that date.
Anybody know if Nate was on the Early Show Friday? I looked but didn't see him. May have just missed him or something.
Transcripts as posted by Sucks member James Barber:
HARRY: How does that guy Jonathan get away with it? On the latest Survivor: Cook Islands, he changed sides again when the two tribes merged. To seal the deal, Yul showed Jonathon the immunity idol, and let him decide who should be voted out.
(clips)
HARRY: And Nate Gonzalez is with us this morning. No one more shocked than he. Good morning. Good to see you.
NATE (shakes his hand): How you doing?
HARRY: Really good. We have to go back to last Thursday night, cause this is when the show aired. Things are kind of cruising along, the merge happened, people are sort of lining up with each other. Your side really has the numbers versus the other team, which only has four people. How did - I was thinking as the show was unfolding that Jonathan was toast, he was dead man walking. Did you believe that too?
NATE: Um...to be honest, no. We wanted to save him. Just to keep numbers. In the back of my head I knew we couldn't really trust him. I saw him and Yul talking a little bit, but we need to keep him just for numbers.
HARRY: Right, cause you had to keep the five intact. You guys went after Yul, and when this vote comes down, Probst is up there (deep voice), "1 vote Yul, 1 vote Nate, 1 vote Yul, 1 vote Nate..." As you're watching that happen, what are you thinking in your mind?
NATE: Um...it's funny, when I saw my name come up first, the first time my name come up, I was like, I'm done. It's over. I just kind of had that feeling in my gut. I saw Jonathan and Yul speaking a lot, they were kind of going back and forth, so I kind of knew something was up. The first time I saw my name come up, I was like, the journey is over.
HARRY (laughs): Oh, God. Look at the look on Jonathan's face [in the clip of Tribal Council when Nate is voted out]. Now of course is where the game gets really interested, with the merge and everything. We'll see what goes on. Where you got voted off, there's a little piece at the end of the show, where you just rat-a-tat-tat, not too many good things to say about Jonathan. You called him a "dirty, stanky fruitcake." You want to take any of that back?
NATE (looks a bit embarrassed): Well, I'll say this. Jonathan's actions in the game were definitely what I said. I have to be honest. He was a backstabber and he betrayed us. Outside the game, he's a good father and a good person. We got along, non-talking about the game, he's a good person.
HARRY: He's a good provider, man. He did a lot of fishing out there.
NATE: He was. He's a good person. But in the game, I'm going to have to say he was a backstabber.
HARRY: It's been interesting in this show as well, because it seemed like love was in bloom, at least among certain folks out there. Did you find it particularly comforting to spend time with anyone out there?
NATE: Ooohhhh...you good, my man, you good! You're out there so long. Oh goodness, gracious. [old clips of Parvati and Nate snuggling play on the screen] It's nice to be affectionate with someone out there. It wasn't anything about love. Parvati is a great person, she's kind of like my medicine. It's nice to be affectionate. You're out there alone, you don't really have anyone. It's nice to be affectionate with...I guess you can say your tribemates. No love though.
HARRY: There you go. You're a musician, you've got a hip-hop career. How are things going with that?
NATE: Going good. I haven't played music for a while, to be honest. I kind of took a little break after this, kind of get my head back on. This takes you for a ride, y'know? But things have been going good.
HARRY: Great. Great to see you, Nate.
NATE: Thank you.
Thanks, cuz.
I think I mentioned this upthread..my idea is that there will be a "voir dire" of jury members, and each of the final two will be allowed to vote one jury member off..
If this is the case, then we would go from a Jury of 10 to a Jury of 8. How would this prevent a possible tie vote?
I became curious when they announced Brad as the first member of the jury. Yul did a doubletake - he processed the math the same way I did I guess. Why 10????? Why not go with 9 ( assuming they wanted an expanded jury because of the original 4 tribe concept ) ....but why an even number? Got to be something else involved here.....
And theres the rub. This very problem has resulted in entire threads devoted to its discussion over on the Sucks website. In fact, so many different scenarios have been offered up that trying to sort the valid possibilities from the obvious B.S. can give one a migraine.
Maybe the jury pool will have to vote out of of their own also?...
Count me in as one who believes that there will be a final 3 rather than a final two this year. It's become so predictable that a good and likeable player drags up a crap player as counterpoint in the final two that I'd like to see three in the final. I would have been really interested to see a final two in Palau of Tom and Ian rather than Tom and the ever-worthless Katie. I knew Tom was going to win that one hands down.
And someone really needs to tell Nate that Survivor is a game based on backstabbing, deceit and lies. He wasn't going to a 39-day church social.
Next week looks good - I guess the former Aitu's are going to eat after Jonathan gets done fishing while the lazy-asses go hungry.
Yes ladies and gentlemen, its Thursday. So that means its time once again for your:
The clues from the official SeeBS website are as follows:
One tribe member is berated for their vote at the last Tribal Council, causing others to plot this Survivors exit from the game. Can this Survivor save themselves from elimination? Gee, I wonder who ticked the players off at the last Tribal Council. Come on folks! This is a no brainer! Jonathan, with a simple stroke of his voting pen, sealed the fate of the Lazy, good for nothing, younger folks! Yep, I refer to none other than the CAP (Candice, Adam, Parvati) alliance.
At the Reward Challenge, the Survivors are left stunned when one of them reveals some shocking news to the group. A lot of folks over on the Spoiler websites were first saying that Yul reveals that he has the Hidden Immunity Idol at the Reward Challenge. However, with a new promo released, showing the CAP alliance attacking Jonathan on the way back from Tribal Council, Jonathan tells them that Yul has shown him the Idol. So its anybody guess what this clue is really referring to.
The Immunity Challenge tests the Survivors recollection of the past thirty days of the game. Which Survivors memory will serve them well and keep them safe for another week? See the comments about the Immunity Challenge below.
At Exile Island, one tribe members spirit takes a beating. How will their seclusion from the tribe affect their morale? See the comments about the Reward Challenge below.
Emotions run high when one alliance decides to eat dinner alone without including the other tribemates. Will this behavior work in their favor or make them bigger targets? The promos show Candice and Parvati throwing a hissy fit when Jonathan and the rest of the old Aitu alliance sit down to enjoy a meal that they caught while the CAP alliance lazed around camp all day. As to whether or not it will make them a bigger target, can you say bub-bye Candice, bub-bye Parvati?
Well, there you have it:
Reward Challenge Winner: everyone wins something at the Auction
Sent to Exile Island : Becky
Immunity Challenge Winner: Ozzy
Tribal Council Bootee(s): Candice
Ill be back Monday morning with a recap, so till than,
Take care,
Nate has some nerve to whine about "backstabbing", lol. He was my choice to go because of his mouth. Ozzy better keep winning immunity or else.
re: Ozzy's Playboy "date". did that occur before or after Survivor was filmed?
My guess would be before Survivor. How else would the casting producers know to recruit him unless they found out about his "unique abilities" by watching his performance on the Playboy channel?
just wondering because on the Playboy show he mentions being out of the country the "last few months".
Born in Mexico, Oscar "Ozzy" Lusth moved 10 times in his teen years to seven U.S. States and Central America while his mother remarried. He attended two years of college at Santa Barbara City College before moving to the Los Angeles area.
Lusth is currently a waiter and was formerly a restaurant manager. He enjoys big wave surfing, skateboarding, sailing, snowboarding, wakeboarding, gymnastics and motorcycle riding. He owns land in Panama and enjoys going there to spearfish. He can dive to 30 feet and can hold his breath under water for three minutes. He is skilled at building traps, forts, shelter and surviving in the wilderness on his own. In the summer of 2005, he camped all the way from Panama to San Diego over the course of five months.
He enjoys reading and writing.
Lusth currently resides in Venice, California with his German Shepard mix, Buddha (who also accompanies him on his board while surfing). His birth date is August 23, 1981.
I have been watching Survivor since it's beginning. I can truly say that I have never seen a Survivor as hard as this one to get into.....
