Heh... this is my home town. I've not seen any raccoons lately. But the woman quoted about raccoons just being cute and cuddly is an idiot. Raccoons are a wild animal and they scrap for a living. If threatened I think they could do some damage to even a sizeable dog. If one has pets, one should never feed or encourage raccoons to hang around.

Frankly, black bears are an issue in N Ga and western NC. They are becoming suburbanized, less-fearful and intrusive. But we're allowed to carry and use firearms here ;-p
