A friend's duaghter won 87 million when she was 27 and retired. Helps take care the whole family etc. They're quite happy she was stupid enough to throw away $3.
Then he'd be suing the fireplace manufacturer.
Just curious, how entertaining is it to lose your money every week while you stare at yet another set of numbers that aren't yours?
I can think of lots of more entertaining ways to spend $2 per week. Maybe you can too after you think of the other options.

I play $2 a week. It works out to 0.08% of my income, roughly. According to my calculations you make $6.25 per hour, roughly .... not that it's any of my business.
LOL, apparently your state doesn't have a lottery that pumps money into the mathematics department at your local schools. Eight one hundredths of one percent says this guy makes $130,000 per year based upon 52 weeks or roughly $65/hour. :-) |
Close, You are only off by one decimal place.
Well, yeah, I can buy a beer at a bar, or a dozen night crawlers, but what they hey, I really like to live on the edge.
For cripes sake, it's $2 a week, with an admittedly miniscule chance of payback, but it sure is nice to dream.
What is more entertaining than dreaming about a life of being rich?
Anyone who plays the lotto. (and that includes me since I have played)
You have "justified" the stupidity to yourself so you can keep up the mental masturbation.
And don't take it personal, it's not aimed at you, it's a comment on human nature.
People routinely do high risk things by justifying to themselves, "it won't happen to me" and then go and spend actual money because they think that somehow they will win against odds that are essentially nil.
Most of the biggest lotto players I know are smokers,,,go figure.
He expected a newspaper to get something right? What is he... a liberal?
I thought I had won the lottery only to find out the numbers matched the one two weeks ago and my ticket was a month old. I had the dates mixed up.
I guess you couldn't think of any. I don't think you tried.
Here's a suggestion;
Next time you get a .50 cup of coffee, tip the girl $2. Watch her reaction the next time you get coffee, see how she treats you after you have done that once a week for a month. I think that's fun, your milage may differ.
Hmmmmmmm ... Oh well .... I guess it just goes to show that even someone who doesn't play the lotto is not immune from being stupid.
Substitute newspaper for coffee.
BTW, I often get coffee for free. And my last container of crawlers was higher than $2.
Most lotto players aren't as fortunate as you. I worked as a bookkeeper at a retailer and found that so many "lotto players" played not only lottery tickets but every game available, including scratch tickets. I also noticed most of these players were the ones that could least afford it. Gambling is a very sad addiction.
That's exactly why I pointed out the very small amount and percentage of my income.
I worked in a convenience store as a young kid. You are right, it's those that can't afford it that play hardcore, and those are the "stupid" people paying the 'stupid tax'.
It would be if you didn't eat it, it wasn't edible and made other people rich off entitlements.
I understand your point without getting hung up in retail pricing and regional differences in the cost of night crawlers. A little charity can be bought for cheap. Smiles worth a bazillion can be bought for next to nothing, and most often, even less.
Wouldn't he have to prove there was malice? That they INTENTIONALLY misprinted the numbers? By the way, if you want to see a great movie about a foreign lottery winner...go rent WAKING NED DEVINE!!!! Terrific movie!
Okay, he wants a consolation prize. How about a free lifetime subscription to the newspaper? And, half off on a pizza.
I always wondered why I spend so much money to feed itty bitty sunfish and 3 inch perch.....oh well.
