Jonbenet Ramsey Murder Suspect Remembered In Hometown For Flashy Car, Marriages To Teens
WSFA-TV Montgomery, AL ^ | 17 Aug 2006 | Alabama AP

Posted on 08/17/2006 6:02:44 PM PDT by commish

The man who claimed he killed JonBenet Ramsey was known in his Alabama hometown for his flashy red sports car. But he was also dogged by questions about his marriages to teenage girls and behavior in elementary classrooms where he worked as a substitute teacher.

John Karr, who lived in northwest Alabama from his preteen years until after the brutal slaying in Colorado, stood out in this rural town both for his gull-winged red DeLorean and his intelligence. Marion County School Superintendent Bravell Jackson, says people couldn't help but like him. Jackson taught Karr and later had to fire him as a substitute teacher amid parent complaints.

Sandra Ford, a retired fifth-grade teacher at Kilby School in Florence supervised Karr's internship, says she was concerned by the way he related to female students. Karr's marriages to teen girls also generated talk in the area. Court records show a 14-year-old girl sought an annulment of their "ceremonial marriage" in 1985. She claimed she feared for her life when she agreed to wed him in 1984, when she was just 13 and he was 19. Karr admitted she was a minor, but denied she was 13.

A judge granted the annulment. Karr later married Lara Karr, who was 16 when their twin daughters died the day they were born on September 1st, 1989. The girls, Angel and Innocence Karr, are buried in the cemetery of a rural church in a family plot. Former Sheriff A-C Tice says the twins were born at home. Probate Judge Annette Bozeman says Karr apparently delivered his children.

I want to see any evidence at all that this admittedly creepy guy was even near Colorado at Christmas 1996. That is the key to this claim, even more so than DNA, which will probably be inconclusive. So far, every aspect of his claim seems totally bogus.

Based on what we've learned so far I wouldn't be the least bit surprised.

YOu just hit the two key things that have to happen. He has to be placed in CO in Dec 1996, or the DNA has to match.

If they can place him there and he has given information only the killer could know, they can get him even with inconclusive DNA. Conversely if the DNA matches, they don't need anything else.

I can also garauntee you that cold cases all over the country from the 1996-2001 time frame are being looked at, and Boulder,CO PD is probably being inundated with DNA result requests.

"Local TV here in Montgomery is now reporting that he is being investigated as a suspect in 3 possibly related murders of 11 year old girls in 2001. One girl , Shannon Paulk, was murdered in Prattville, AL in August 2001. the other 2 were in Northern Alabama, and the other was in Georgia."

Interesting. When did ex-wife say they moved to California, about this time no?

He was in California before this murder. He was arrested in Petaluma in APril 2001 on the Child porn Charges. He apparently skipped bail during the summer (they never gave an exact date). The murders in Alabama/Georgia all took place in late 2001. The Paulk Murder was in late Aug, not sure the exact dates of the other 2, but I think they were after.

Didn't his father think that he was dead and that he had lost track of him around 2001?

What if the DNA matches, and it is conclusively proven he was NOT in Colorado in the December 1996?

(Other than setting the conspiracy theorists into a frenzy, that is)

"Something is seriously wrong with John Karr. Something is not right with him.

Post an image of President Logan next to a photo of his illegitimate son John Karr.
Make sense now?

It wasn't meant to be repulsive. Southerners use different words than us Northerners and eat grits, too.

I lived in Williamsburg, VA for a year. Try to find a Catholic church or an Italian deli. They're not bad people...just a little different.

I agree...In fact following him might have led BACK to pulling the Ramsey file.
