JonBenet Ramsey D.A.: More Work Needed
ASSOCIATED PRESS
BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - The district attorney in the JonBenet Ramsey slaying says there is "much more work" to be done in the case against the suspect and she is warning the public not to "jump to conclusions."

I remember where I was in 1996. I was on a flight from Palm Springs to Des Moines with a layover in Denver on December 27th returning home from visiting my family in CA. The LA Times I was reading on the flight to Denver had the story of JonBenet and I remember buying both the Denver Post and RM News at the Denver airport so I could read more in-depth about the incident. I could not tell you where I was the Chrstmas before or after but that one I remember because of the news.
His resume said under hobbies: Acting.
He lied during the interview. It was an accident was Lie No. 1.
Someone asked upthread if Patsy Ramsey wrote back to John Karr; it sounds like she did NOT.
He told the AP he made "several efforts to communicate with Patricia before she passed away," referring to JonBenet's mother, "and it is my understanding that she did read my letters."
Wood said that Karr had tried to correspond with Patsy Ramsey in the months before the woman's death from ovarian cancer. Wood said Ramsey did not reply, but handed that information over to investigators who used it to link Karr to the case.
Wood said he did not know the contents of the correspondence, which he said was in the form of e-mails or letters.

Always get a lawyer first. Even if you're going to go the cooperation route, it's imperative that you have good legal advice as to the best way to do that.
I never said that most people who are accused of serious crimes aren't guilty. However, there's a significant minority out there who once they think you're the guy will hound you to the end, even if you're entirely innocent. In those situations, those who don't talk are the ones who will not be charged or if charged, will be found innocent. Once you're the focus of an investigation, they're going to be looking for ANY inconsistency in things you tell them and very few people have true photographic memories, so you're likely to make a non-error error. Knowing when you're really the focus of an investigation can be hard, so that's part of the reason why it's important to have an experienced lawyer who has been through hundreds of cases and can interpret police speak.
This article has an audio of Karr talking about contacting Patsy Ramsey.

I'm convinced this guy didn't do it....he's a nut case....he wants to believe he killed her imho.....the DNA will tell for sure.
I was just joking on the tagline.
Amen! I just think since the bonus amount was not generally known, the inclusion of that unusual figure in the note provides an extremely important clue. Who knows, maybe an obvious plant to point a finger in a certain direction.
Father's *do* rape and kill their daughters. So do brothers and uncles.Mothers even do it once in a while.
correct. so far, the report about him "drugging" her - is third hand - reported from someone in Thailand who says that is what Karr told him.
Predictable response.
Thanks for clarifying the point re arrest in Thailand. Still, I'm not convinced this guy is anything other than a nut-job, pervert. The DNA is either a match or it isn't. Kerr's family will either have photos/videos of Kerr having Christmas dinner with them that night in another state, or they won't. The fact that Kerr may know details about the case not generally available to the public is meaningless if, in fact, he has a psycho obsession with the case. (For we all we know now, Kerr might have met a former police officer, detective, or investigator at an airport bar some place, who said more than he or she should have said after too many G & T's.)
Um.... sure.
I hope to hell they have the right guy. If not, this case is shot to hell regardless of who is arrested or what is learned in the future.
I wonder (and I know nothing about law) if he is being brought back as a material witness? (Not even sure if that is the right term).
She had a lead and followed up on it. She did exactly what I would have done which is get this guy before he goes after more children.
The guy's a pedophile and interested in the deaths of children. The importance of that cannot be overstated. Yes, perhaps he is delusional with respect to the JonBenet Ramsey case, but I wouldn't be shocked to find out that he has killed children or that he's planning on it. The guy's a sick freak who is turned on by the murder of children. Violence and pedophilia are one of the worst combinations on the planet.
I guess I'm just more of a risk taker than you are.To me,hiring a lawyer would delay the arrival of the day when the cops turned their attention from me to the real perp.
If I was guilty and had no intention of facing the music,I'd hire a lawyer the moment the guy at the door said "I'm Detective Smith from the Anytown Police Department".I'd also hire one the moment I was officially indicted/charged.But not before.
Maybe the guy has AIDS and wants to come back here to get free treatment in prison.
"I've been here before" or
"I know a lot about you" or
"I'm watching you".
I agree. I'm not convinced this guy is the one who murdered JonBenet either. I'm not caught up on the latest news about the DNA. Do you know when they are expecting the DNA results?
Most (99.999%) of the talking heads out there who are prosecutors insist "lawyering up" is a sure sign you are guilty of something.
That in and of itself tells me "lawyering up" is the right thing to do, ESPECIALLY if innocent.
