OK,fair enough.But given how often it is that a relative *did* do it,it's understandable that they'd come to you first.If you're innocent but choose to "lawyer up" anyway,that will just make the cops more suspicious and delay the day when they start looking for the actual perp.

Father's *do* rape and kill their daughters.So do brothers and uncles.Mothers even do it once in a while.

I must still be naive. I know LE and DA's see the seamier side of life and surely that is their point of reference. I do understand that.

But as a citizen, I am appalled that someone excercising their basic rights when accused of a crime, especially if innocent, is perceived as guilty.

We have seen it over and over in the past 10-15 years. The court of public opinion does not mean anything in the courtroom. I know that. But once the court of public opinion declares you guilty, nothing will change it, regardless of what the jury decides.
