Here's the place to post your pet peeves! Here are mine:
1. Liberals, lawyers, hypocrites, etc...wait, this list is getting redundant!
2. People who pronounce water as "wooter" and wash as "warsh", and strength/length as "strenth/lenth". So basically, people with Baltimore accents
3. Walking down a crowded hallway in school and the idiot in front of you stops and turns around
4. When people refer to the Czech Republic as just "Czech", or say "Slovakian" instead of the correct adjective, Slovak
5. Alarm clocks
6. People who whine. Oh wait, I already said liberals
7. Anti-war whackos, animal rights whackos, enviro-whackos...
8. School pictures
9. When my mom drags me off to visit her cousins and everyone always says "Oh, look how much you've grown!" Geez that is annoying...
10. Little dogs

Also, painful malapropisms that are never caught (by the speaker) and used over and over. 'Flying by the skin of my teeth,' for example, courtesy of my office. I actually heard an HR manager once tell a group of people in one of my client's offices:
"Now, I don't want to make idle threats, but I will if I have to."

1. People who drive slowly in the passing lane.
2. Parents who make no effort to control their children in public places.

I have disassociated myself from two longtime 'friends' because they call and the first words out of their mouths are them cussing, bitching and moaning about me not doing this or not doing that. ..before they ask when are we going fishing in your boat?
Not even a hello, wassup or how are you doing?
I can do without these type of friends.

A girl I know says "LOL" all the time. So I got her a t-shirt with "LOL" printed on it. When I gave it to her, she just squeaked "LOL!"

You could root for the Steelers, like all decent and honorable folks. :-)You know, that could very well have happened but my market was AFC East so I had to be punished by watching Bills, Patriots, Colts, Jets. Frankly, during the 70's, many of those teams stunk.
To: RubyCosmos
Not exactly a malapropism, but one idiot I used to work with added "-and s**t like that" to every sentence and statement. He even did that when discussing his own mother's funeral! We used to call him 'And S**t Like That' behind his back.

The Pats actually had some good years in the mid-70's (a bad Ben Dreith call away from the Super Bowl) but after Fairbanks got canned (stabbed the team in the back as well) they just fell apart. Billy Sullivan and the rest of the family were terrible owners.
They were terrible in the early 80's and then from 1987 until Parcells showed up they were even worse.

after being told it was 'love' and 'hate.' ...after doodling once with a wide magic marker a coworker asked me what it meant, I told her it was a Japanese symbol of good luck. She asked me if I could make it larger and I said ..sure. So after I enlarged it on the copier I gave it to her. She took it home, framed it and thanked me for weeks.........no I never told her

Thanks for a world class post! At the end of the day these vanity posts create new paradigms on FR. They represent the grass roots efforts of our best and brightest. Going forward we can expect these posts to create a synergy of new thought and provide actionable ideas for followup. The admin mods need to create a sidebar for such "best of breed" posts so they can be widely disseminated. Our core competencies at FR could be enhanced. I'm going to suggest to Jim Rob that he immediately put this idea on his plate. Please join me in this grassroots campaign for improvement!
