SCI FI Channel and its sister NBC Universal networks will air a one-hour recap special of the original series Battlestar Galactica in advance of the show's October third-season premiere. Battlestar Galactica: The Story So Far will incorporate footage from the original SCI FI miniseries and the previous two seasons of the Peabody Award-winning series. The special will be narrated from the point of view of Laura Roslin (Mary McDonnell), the resistance leader on Cylon-occupied New Caprica. The special will also appear on SCIFI.COM's SCI FI Pulse broadband network.

The special will be broadcast as follows: Aug. 13 at 10 p.m. on NBC West Coast, Aug. 28 Free On Demand via SCI FI's cable affiliates, Sept. 15 at 12 a.m. on USA Network, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. on Universal HD, Sept. 18 at 9 a.m. on USA, Sept. 22 at 8 p.m. on Universal HD, Sept. 22 at 6 p.m. on Sleuth, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. on Bravo, Sept. 30 at 11 a.m. on Bravo, Sept. 30 at 4 p.m. on Universal HD, throughout the month of September on SCI FI Pulse and Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. on SCI FI.

Throughout September, The Story So Far will also be made available for download via iTunes and XBox Live and will be distributed at Best Buy as a bonus DVD with the Battlestar Galactica season 2.5 DVD set and other genre titles from Universal Home Video. The DVD will also be distributed to visitors to the Universal Studios theme parks, and snippets of the special will be available on YouTube.com, Google Video and other video portal sites.

Everyone to whom I have suggested this show has given me some degree of resistance- until they watch "33" and "Water". After that they are, to a man, addicted.

My mom was the same way. For about a month I kept telling her to just try it. "Oh, I dunno..." Well then she did and now she's a bigger fanatic than I am.

This is my experience - if you get them through the mini-series and into "33" and "Water", they are sold (most with just a viewing of "33".

Where they would promptly emasculate it and then cancel it after one season. It has more than enough PC on it now on SCiFi, NBC would make it even more PC to "reach a wider audience" and ruin it.

Agreed -- actually "33" by itself has hooked a number of people I've pointed that way.

The cliffhanger this past year has grabbed a few more (the "One Year Later" caption is what I think floored a lot of folks)...

By a bunch it is and I'm a huge B5 fan but nobody beats RDM.

RDM also gave us DS9, don't forget. Star Trek knocks over a casino in the holosuite.

First Dax and Annoying Dax!

More hand wringing.

It would be more fair to compare 5 seasons of BG to 5 years of B5. So far in my book (comparing the first 2 seasons of each), B5 is still ahead.

BG is very good though and I enjoy the series a lot.

"Annoying Dax"

Actually that was the late Michael Pillar of USA's Dead Zone that brought us the last Dax who is absolutely awful.

Annoying Dax was one of the worst things on tv that season! We agree on that! :-)

(Cute as a button, though. Especially when they knock over a casino. Cute chick)

I liked Jadzia Dax a lot, by the way - I found her attractive in a ballbusting way. Hahaha! DS9 was the last best Trek, but it's all relative: that's like saying it just didn't suck as bad as all the other TNG and beyond Treks.
