Sir Paul McCartney fires staff

LIFE STYLE EXTRA (UK) - Sir Paul McCartney has fired seven people from his New York offices - because he allegedly wants to cut all ties with estranged wife Heather Mills.

According to America's New York Post newspaper, the former Beatle decided to dismiss the staff from MPL Communications, his lucrative music publishing house, this week in an unexpected cull.

Paul's spokespeople have so far refused to comment on the sackings, but speculation is rife he made the tough decision because of their connections to Heather, who reportedly had a hand in the majority of his business affairs.

Earlier this week, Paul pulled out of performing at an anti-landmine charity event - because of Heather's involvement with the charity..

The musician was due to play at the upcoming annual Adopt-A-Minefield gala dinner but has now refused to participate because of his estranged spouse's strong ties with the organisers.

In a statement, Paul said: "While I continue to be committed to Adopt-A-Minefield and its critical mission, given the current circumstances, I will not be able to attend."

Last year, Paul helped raise around £1.7 million for the charity, which works closely with the United Nations to remove landmines in war torn countries across the world.

Would over 30 years include:

Juniors Farm, Admiral Halsey, Hi Hi Hi, and Too Many People?

I know McCartney is no Green Day, Sublime, or Metallica...but give him a break, he's just trying really hard to make his breakthrough album cut! If only someone would give him a chance.../ultrasarc

When he wasn't making hit music, he was guiding ideas such as ...umm... MTV and working behind the scenes with mega concerts like Live Aid, Live8, and Knebworth.

He fired one woman because she reminded him of Heather Mills.

Her name was Eileen.

Yep, and Paul's last good (studio) album was Band on the Run (1973).

Been quite a drought for "Sir" Paul.
