Desktop Linux breakthrough: Lenovo preloads SUSE on ThinkPad

On August 4th, we found out that Lenovo Group, the company that has taken over IBM's Personal Computing Division, had made a deal with Novell Inc. to preload SLED 10 (SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop) on its ThinkPad T60p mobile workstation.

For the first time, a major OEM (original equipment manufacturer) has committed to preloading a Linux desktop.

Look at the auto industry in the 1960's-70's. The import invasion made the market more competitive, that's for sure.

My favorite was in the 70s. Congress called the Big Three to testify as to why all their cars put out so much pollution, and they said it was technically infeasable and/or would be too expensive to reduce it.

Then soon after came Honda with the CVCC, clean and cheap.

FYI-

I'm running an Intel processor right now. American made CPU's are in 75% of the working computers in my house.

In addition to my two foreign made guns, I own three Rugers (one a very nasty P90 in .45 caliber), a Marlin or two, and a pristine '47 Winchester Model 70 in .270 caliber (Bless you Pap. God rest your soul).

I drive two American vehicles (both Jeeps). But not at the same time.

I own several vintage American radios, and keep them working with American parts.

I own two American made guitars (Fender) as well as a sweet vintage vaccum tube amplifier, again, made in the good ol' USA.

And finally, you were the guy, with the Stars and Stripes draped around him, admitted to owning Sony products at one time on this very forum. If you'd like a citation, I'd be glad to post it, but you probably don't.

Really, your nationalistic fervor just makes you seem creepy and pathetic. But, it's easier than thinking, I guess.

Um...competition is not "enforced", in fact, in a free market, nothing of the sort is enforced, although you'd probably like to see that changed, I'm sure.

Most people don't have Brownings, and when they see their first one, they usually wonder what is wrong with it.

Huh? I don't believe what I'm reading. Browning has one of the best reputations in the industry, as does FN (which makes many of the small arms used by our government). The Hi-Power, conceived by an American and realized by the Belgians, is a legend, revolutionary for its time, and still a damn good pistol.

Of course, if they kept up with the accounting. Software is pirated all over there, even in the government, but business-to-business, Sun gets to see the units sold and account for them.

BTW: You do actually know that J.M. Browning was an American? And you did read the part about how Winchester, the American company he was designing for didn't want to produce his auto loader shotgun so he went overseas to someone that would. And you also understand that the man has over 128 patents of firearm design unrivaled by any other single designer.
