Were pictures taken of the inscription? Were translations ever done?

It said, "do not remove or deface this sign". ;') The description of the inscription was pretty detailed, so I'd guess offhand that the translation was done, and that impressions and/or photos were made of it.
It's not clear whether it was defaced or stolen.
did the mullahs blow it up?
Probably got plundered for sale to a private collection, or to go to a museum. Even though there has been an international agreement prohibiting this since the 1980s, things like this do go on.
Probably went riding on the Baraghaneh express...
