How is this relevant to the story? Are they trying to imply that people who hold strong conservative Catholic religious and political views are all Jew-haters?
ABC is a flake.
My Mom is Catholic and a big time Jew hater. I don't get it.
They are implying that his religous and political persuasions are part of his problem.
"it has been two years and the network still has not seen a script, so the project is being pulled."
I had the impression it had already been in filming process.
He is to "conservate Catholic" what Alan Dershowitz if to Orthodox Judaism
Mel Gibson may be a confirmed Catholic but Catholics do not hold the visceral anti-Jewish bigotry that erupted from Mel Gibson. From what I've read, he needs professional counseling and possibly therapy for his anger and emotional imbalance. Mr. Gibson's beliefs about Jews are neither "Catholic" nor "conservative".
Their loss will be another networks gain. NBC or CBS or even a cable network will pick it up.
When I was surfing the news stations this morning one of them was interviewing the audience. The one man first said, "Well I go to watch his acting, not his politics" Then they interviewed a woman who said she won't be attending any of his films. Then all of them said the same thing..
First of all...how is he any different from the Dixie Chicks who they ALL protected. Everyone said they have a right to say what they want. Now all of a sudden they're against Mel Gibson for speaking poorly about Jews. I don't get the impression Hollywood loves Jews. So it's just that they hate Mel.
While I don't defend what he said, if he said it, by any means, I think there's more to the story
So let me get this straight... Gibson is an accused Jew hater.. who is doing a project about the holocaust from the memoirs of a Jew who survived it?????
So, because he has been accused of launching into a drunken tyrade against jews, the project will not be finished?
I dunno this whole thing just doesn't add up..... I'd want to see how drunk he was... lord knows I've said things I don't remotely believe when scmockered.
When asked for comment, Michael Eisner the president of Disney Studios said "What??? What is it about these guys who say that Jews run Hollywood?!@?!?"
Our reporter then contacted the head of ABC Entertainment, Mr. Stuart Bloomberg who said "I don't know where he gets these crazy ideas...it must be the booze!"
Other media magnates were contacted for comment. Mr Gerald Levin, CEO of Time-Warner said "I never heard such claptrap!!! Jews running Hollywood -Schmollywood!!!"
Peter Guber, CEO of Columbia Pictures said "That man will never work in this city again for putting out such filthy anti-media-mogul lies!!!"
The list goes on...
How is this relevant to the story? Are they trying to imply that people who hold strong conservative Catholic religious and political views are all Jew-haters?
It sounds that way, doesn't it? Not to say they don't exist because I'm sure they come from all backgrounds, but I have never met an antisemitic Catholic before. It's irresponsible of the press to imply causation.
The jews at ABC pulled the plug.
jews is a metaphor for Hollywood moguls in Melspeak..
Ok help me understand this. Gibson was producing a series about the Holocaust, which if he truly was a holocaust-denier wouldn't be doing, but ABC pulls it, because of anti-Jewish remarks.
Wouldn't it seem that such a project would only help Mel perhaps to overcome some of the anti-Jewish feelings he may hold?
I watched a few irritating minutes of the History Channel on the "antichrist" a day or two ago. Apparently all Chrisitans are something called "dispensationalists"--a whole new term invented by people who did not, I guess, grow up hearing about Premillienialism.
You can say anything you want about Christians and whatever you want to think they believe on TV, but you have to have a special approved franchise to talk about the Holocaust.
So be it. It might have been a good thing for Jews and Christians, that series. But now we'll never know. But we do know other things.
Of course they do. Can't have a person uttering a slur and than geniuinely apologizing for it. Not like the Clintons who do the worst things and never apologize for anything.
As I recall from my 12 years of Catechism lessons in Catholic school...any who do not believe in God and worship him according Roman Catholic doctrine will not go to heaven.
If anyone were to actually say "Jews will not go to heaven" would that be taken as anti-semitic?
So if my understanding of Roman Catholic doctrine is correct would it not follow that the church is anti-semitic?
Of course we all know that Hezbollah is "The Party of God"...so we should all become Hezbos or we are guilty of rejecting God.
