Silly man...don't you know to never to stop and talk to people in Miami? It's not America there...
I was told that if I had to go there...to roll through the stop signs and lights, keep doors locked and get out as fast as you can.
Another crime from the 'Vacation of Peace' crowd.
Coconut Grove is a very nice area that abuts an absolute slum.
Sad news for his family.

I think that there are a lot of places in this land where it's unwise to ask directions.
"There was only a vague discription of the murderer." Like maybe his race? But they can't put that in the story, can they?
Recall a judge, in Illinois, Henry Gentile, being shot in his court, by an irate defendant,,,,Wonder if any kin to this poor fella.....
Suspect appeared................white? black? hispanic?
Guess that's asking for unfair clues in our P.C. world.
Coconut Grave is close by a black getto...
Senator Turbin's constituents.
Let me quess, this happened in the Coconut Grover branch of the VFW (very few whites). I suppose where he came from, asking for directions wasn't a life theatening activity. Another good reason to buy a gps.
See! When we don't ask for directions, it isn't male stubborness; it's finely honed survival instincts at work.
When I have rented from Avis, I got a great little GPS unit that you can push a button, and talk to an actual human being who will help you. Fabulous investment for the extra 9 bucks a day, IMHO.
Recently in Phoenix I rented from Alamo which had the most useless POS GPS system..You had to key everything in-not easy when you are going high speed on a crowded freeway, and for addresses in Gilbert, it basically couldn't find them.
The POS GPS from Alamo was definitely not user friendly.
Boy, if I didn't live in Florida, I wouldn't go there on vacation. I don't think they like tourists there.
Talk about Little Tehran
Not quite sure where Coconut Grove is, but I do know one of the scariest experiences in my life was trying to find Hialeah Park back in 1989. Got off I-95, got lost, ended up wandering around somewhere where even the street signs were in Spanish. Just two white boys down for Spring Break, in a brand-new Toyota with Virginia plates. We finally found the racetrack...only running at night. We didn't bother coming back.
Of course, that's not quite as scary as being stuck in a Nissan Sentra with four other friends (including one extremely good-looking blonde) driving by RFK Stadium at 2:00 in the morning...

Shouldn't this be considered a racist hate crime? If a Black was robbed and gunned down outside a suburban shopping mall by a white perpetrator, Jesse Jackson et. al. would be screaming racism and demanding swift justice.
Sad. But for those guys who get lots of spousal encouragement but all too little map reading...next time your wife insists you stop and ask for directions, you have a little tragedy to narrate.
Warning to tourists: Do not go to Miami.
I am speculating that because his skin is light he was attacked and that none of the neighbors will admit to seeing anything and that this will not be called a hate crime and there will be no state-wide alert that includes a description of race.
Just speculating, based on past events.
