What should Mel Gibson's punishment be? (VANITY)

Since so many here want so much to forgive Mel Gibson for his anti-semetic tirade and beligerent behavior towards law enforcement I was trying to come up with the best punishment. I think I got it. Besides the obligatory fine, I think the Judge should sentence him to 500 hours community service at the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust. What do you all think his sentence should be?

I wonder why Mel is being crucified for his remarks while the Islamic idiot who killed Jews during the weekend has excuses made for him. He was troubled...blah blah. Is it worse to call some one a damn Jew or shoot him. I guess the media thinks talking is worse.

The standard penalty for DUI whatever it is in California.
It isn't forgiving him for his tirade that one wants the law enforced. It is his disregard for other drivers who haven't been drinking and aren't trashed.
If we threw the "hate" law at every boor and sloppy drunk, we'd need new jails.
Opus (daughter of parents hit by a drunk truckdriver while they sat at a red light at an intersection. The drunk never saw the light, or their car in front of him as he never slowed down.)

I think he will be punished enough by family, friends (ex-friends now) and society. He probably already lost most of his buddies who are probably Jewish....unless they realize it was just the alcohol talking.

Really Hildy ........ each of us is an expert on something, I always say. I know how to play baseball at a very high level. I know about people and the human psyche. But I really know little about history. I regret that, but I do not.
I am somewhat familiar with the terrible treatment of the Jews in Europe for a great long time. But I do not know how this persecution you speak of began.
I was trying to be serious asking you to answer my question. I want to know WHY this persecution gat started. It seems so absurd and irrational.
Please tell me what you think or know when you have time.
I appreciate your concern over these crazy times, by the way.
It's pretty precarious for a lot of us.
Take care ...........

He's free to say what he wants. If someone has objections they don't have to patronize his movies.

And..... I suppose you have some sort of authentication on that ~ anyone can write up a "report".
This one doesn't have the "aaaaarrrrrghhhhhh" parts in it where he started stumbling away from the deputies.

I don't think anti-Semiticism is hereditary in the sense that its biological, but I believe bigotry is often passed down in families. Its the same way with most families that the values of the parents are passed on to the children. This works for good and bad values. Im sure youve noticed that children tend to grow up with the political and religious values of their parents. Thats hardly a revelation. When we hear Mel is reported to have made an anti-Jewish rant almost identical to the ones his father has been saying in public for years, its obvious that hes not just making flippant spur of the moment commentary. Nonetheless, the crime of being a malicious-mouthed crank is not punished. As long as Mels anti-Semiticism remains verbal only, hell be branded an anti-Semite and it will hurt his reputation and his business, but the state has no business punishing stupid people for saying cruel things.

"distance" from what? Most people will avoid speaking against a parent.
You should drop that particular element from your litany because it makes you seem to be irrational ~ not because Mel is rational but because you demand something that violates human fundamentals.

Poly, poly, poly ~ if alochol released truth we'd have no need of torture or lie detectors.
Usually all alcohol releases is BS.

Last time I checked, anti-anything remarks were not illegal. Attempting to prosecute someone for "naughty words" sounds very stalinistic. He was nailed for OUI, the penalties for that are already in place. Other than that, it should be dropped.

Good point, but after 2000 or so years the tribe of Judah has its warrior caste back. It's much better to kick a$$ than to be persecuted.

Punishment for what? Offending you?
His crime (if convicted) was DUI. For that he should get what the law dictates.

Thanks. Seriously, I love Mel---always have---and all people have their foibles. If he had substituted "conservatives" or "Bush," Hollywood would love him. If he truly thinks such things, he's wrong, but is as free to think and speak them as Michael Moore is to speak his vile tripe.

Hildy, Mel and the Seattle shooter had nothng to do with each other. Your basic hard core Moslem crazoid simply doesn't follow "Christian news", nor do they include Christians in their circle of friends.
