Senate minority Leader Reid (D-NV) and House minority Leader Pelosi (D-CA) have submitted bicameral legislation to protect the weakest among us from any peril, anywhere in the world, at any time. The legislation, coined The No Dummy Left Behind Act will mandate the use of US military assets as well as provide authority to commandeer commercial craft to provide for the prompt evacuation/rescue of US citizens no matter what they did to get themselves into their present situation.
The legislation mandates a 48 hour limit for the evacuations, regardless of location or circumstances. After the 48 hour limit, the legislation provides for penalties to the President, providing the President is a Republican. Should we ever have another Democrat President; the penalties will shift from her to the highest ranking Republican in the government.
The legislation also mandates the use of the most comfortable and luxurious means available. Cruise ships and First Class airfare must be used before lower means of transport, like military helicopter or truck, will be considered. Were talking about American Citizens, here, said Senator Schumer (D-NJ), were accustomed to a certain level of service here in the US.
An amendment, co sponsored by Senators John McCain (R-AZ) and Arlen Specter (R-PA), make an exemption for anything that should occur along the US/ Mexico boarder. The President lauds the McCain/Specter amendment. We would not want to alarm our neighbors to the south with an increased military presence on the boarder, White House Spokesman Tony Snow was quoted when asked by Helen Thomas at yesterdays press briefing.
Another amendment, offered by Congresswoman McKinney (D-GA) and Denis Kucinich (D-OH) would provide funds for the prompt return of the evacuees upon cessation of the crisis at hand. This would also follow the formula of using the most comfortable accommodations first, with lesser classes of service being used only when necessary.
Another amendment, offered by Congressman Bernie Sanders (IVT), provides for all expense paid accommodations should the evacuees become unable to return to their residences for any reason.
Senator Richard Durbin (D-IL), said, It is important for our citizens to feel safe and secure, no matter where they are in the word.
Ye Gads. What ever happened to personal responsiblity. Oh! I forgot the Dems want cradle to grave irresponsibility.
LOL, btt!
