Now I've heard everything

Conspiracy theories about the Duke Lacrosse case are proliferating. But yesterday I heard one that takes the cake. This theory holds that one of the key "she's" in the case is really a "he," in drag. Oh boy.

Didn't Monks say that he would run as a write-on if Cheek deided not to run?

I mean, if he couldn't collect enough signatures to get on the ballot, I doubt that he'll be much of a threat as a Republican write-in candidate in a Democratic county.

The more I think about this the more ticked off I'm getting. Cheek said if elected, he would appoint a special prosecutor to handle the lacrosse case.

Now he's saying "(I had said) I would not leave and will not leave my law firm to be DA and put it in potential jeopardy," as if he never had any intent. He's also claiming he wants no "further connection with the campaign, the election... with anything" I feel like I'm standing downwind.

Effective July 27, Sgt. Mark D. Gottlieb, Investigator James A. Griffin Jr. and Officer Richard D. Clayton have been restored to full-duty status pending the outcome of the Durham Police Department’s internal investigation. No criminal charges have been filed against Gottlieb, Griffin and Clayton.
