This shocking announcement has been made from "Batman-on-film.com."
I am kind of disappointed, to say the least. Personally, I was pulling for Australian actor Lachy Hulme, and he seemed to be the one most likely to get the role. I'm still not 100% positive this news announcement is true, but the editor of b.o.f. seems to think it's a done deal. Heath Ledger was in "Brokeback Mountain," "The Patriot," and "A Knight's Tale."

I'm optimistic that he has the range to play an evil madman. No, take that back. I bet he can play a diabolical evil man, but I'm not so sure if he can play a madman.
Then again, maybe his voice has gone up a few octaves since his last major role...
He's a boring actor. But then, although I liked aspects of it, Batman Begins wasn't all it was cracked up to be, and the villains were the weakest part.
Then the sequel will be better, right?
I had hopes for him after The Patriot. But after what he said about my country during the Brokeback BS, Ledger gets no more of my $$$.
Thought the movie was really well done.
I don't know, but I'd happily pay money to watch Christian Bale whip the snot out of him...
The movie rocked. Don't listen to what anyone else says.
He won't be getting your money. He's probably being paid a fixed amount for being in the movie. That will be the same whether people go to see it or not.

Possibly, but I won't know because I won't see it. All this comic book stuff is a big "Who cares?" to me, all retreading children's stuff. I wish some of these people would come up with something fresh and imaginative, instead of regurgitating the same old stuff that's been around for decades. Burton's Batman was a joke as far as telling an interesting story--all art direction; the sequels got progressively worse, except for Michelle Pfeiffer in the first. I sat through Batman Begins thinking "When is this 'oooooh, they're doing it DARK!' trend going to end and the 'That was an excellent STORY!' trend going to begin?
I liked that guy in 28 Days Later, at least the first half. But what is it about these superhero movies, they have to cram them full of secondary characters? It's like they're all nervous that the audience won't be able to process any character depth in a hero and a villain, so they make everyone a cipher and fill up the running time with mayhem and running around that doesn't add up to very much.
But Begins HAD an excellent story. It's probably got more substance, story, character development, and all that than any other comic book adaptation.

That is one seriously creepy dude. I think it's the prettiness...and something about his mouth gives me the willies.
He was in Red Eye, too...and even more creepy in that. Ech.
Well, the point of this series is that the character development is mostly from the main character (the superhero), and he is the focus of the entire story. The last Batman series were messy and unfocused...the villains overshadowed the hero, but in the end, the real stars were the special effects.
