No doubt about it, af_vet_rr, Landis' run yesterday, after he had started to drop the escappes, was positively merckxian. He rode mercilessly, like the 'Cannibal'.

It will be interesting to see what happens to Floyd after the surgery. Lemond and Armstrong both overcame horrible setbacks to return to the top of the sport -- If Floyd can somehow do the same thing it would be a sight to behold.

I wonder how an artificial joint will hold up to the rigours of cycling. All the peddling and pumping will be right on that joint. I guess if Bo jackosn could come back from Hip Replacement to play baseball, FLoyd might be able to come back to racing.

I don;t see any way he comes back next year, even if he is defending champion, but stranger things have happened. However, I would love to see him suddenly show up back at the top in 2-3 years.

LOL!! I usually do grape nuts or regular cheerios, but when I want to 'get back to my roots', it's Cocoa Puffs, or better yet, Cocoa Krispies! Cocoa Krispies makes the best choco cereal milk in the world!

For next year- I TiVo the early morning coverage then blast through the ads. Yesterday, I actually watched the end of the stage in real time b/c once I realized that Landis was up by 9 min, I wanted to see him finish. Then I went back later and watched it. I used to tape it before I got TiVo.

Dang, they still have Saunier Duval doing all thed work. If they are being "punished" this is one hell of a beating. ROFL. Gap staying right around 3:20.

Chances are it's gonna take ~6 months to get back to 'normal', whatever that is for him. That doesn't leave much time to get ready for a 2007 Tour, does it? It can be stunning, tho, how quickly world-class athletes recover from major surgeries, both because they are in superlative shape before the surgery, and because of the drive and determination that they have to possess to be where they are to begin with.

I hope this stage two climb is about to interject some excitement. Everyone's happy with the status quo today.

"I told them go drink some coke if you want to come along because we're going!" Bet that quote is already up in the employee lounge at Coke HQ in Atlanta! (If only the peloton had taken his advice!)
