Depends on whether Mom has any assets left, I guess.

It'll keep, and it's worth the wait.

But ya know ... it just ain't right to sue your parents.

You reactionary, you. Strange how I believe the same thing.

So you come from a poor family, too. :)

Not having wise investments or the ability in the past to pinch a penny til it screams, I'm the poor one, LOL. Early spending habits caught up with me. All the same, I couldn't force myself to file against my folks even if it were their idea (and it wouldn't be).

And deleting doesn't remove the tuna, it just removes the label! ;)

$75,000 sounds a lot like a homeowner policy limit of liability. It's quite possible this is collusion between the parents and the daughter to cover medical expenses and pick up some spare cash. Insurance companies are very skeptical of claims by one family member against another (try collecting if your wife backs into your car), so a legal case would probably be the way to solve it. In most instances, health insurance picks up injury claims, but it's possible the health insurance company would try to recover from the homeowner's policy also. Health insurance also seldom covers lost wages. In any event, there's more to this story than the story that's printed.

The lady (and I'm being charitable), her parents or extended family surely
includes a lawyer. And maybe someone wise in the ways of manipulating
insurance codes/laws.

A few years ago there was a scandal in Kansas in which it was found that
that a bunch of lawyers were filing a sorts of crafty workmans comps
claima (for themselves).
IIRC, one got a big comp award for injury of an arm in some sort of "attache case accident".

It WAS imaginative. In some ways, low-tech is more impressive than high tech.

Yes, that is true - more ingenuity required with low-tech stuff!
