"Come get some!"
And here's his pic on Nifong's webpage. http://www.mikenifong.com/districtcourt.php
I was reading the N&O and I saw this. I think this relates as to how the public can stand by and not be interested in abuses of power by their officials and representatives.
N&O, 7/22/06 Page 1A of the Print edition (and continued on other pages) by T. Keung Hui:
The article references failing schools, their test scores, and their respective consequences via the No child left behind Act. A woman, Eleanor Hunter, has a daughter in 3rd grade at one of the schools that failed to pass one of the hurdles of the No Child Left Behind act, this quote was attributed to her:
"It's important to support your neighborhood school regardless of test scores," Hunter said. "You should make a decision based on how happy your child is."
No one - parent or otherwise - was quoted in the entire front page article that was critical of the failing schools or the school system. Other parents were quoted as saying they were "not fans" of the No child left behind act, and one said that it stigmatizes schools.
Maybe Nifong isn't so dumb in thinking he can bamboozle a Jury in granting his convictions.
BUMP
These will be your jurors if a COV is not granted.
Can somebody find out which club it was, and who owns the club, and if anybody from the Durham PD or DA's office
is related to or involved in the running of the club?
(NOT a very likely prospect, but it would be interesting if true).
And I'd love for Mike Nifong to have an interest in some kind of club. . .
Maybe, but I've seen the defense win that argument plenty of times.
Agree.
If there're more than one Coldwater, then they're all lefty psychos. As long as I've posted there (under various names), I've never seen anything except a leftist bent from the moderator(s).
I'm not positive there're more than one, and they do mostly shut down for the weekend or have one weekend thread so it's possible they don't, but whether one or a dozen, s/he or they rule by crisis and seem to be of one mind in terms of their political, life, and world view.
Hooligans.
In addition to the criminal probe of Thursday's incident, Durham police Chief Steven Chalmers said his office is investigating.
Hopefully, your department will do a better job in this investigation than it has in its investigations into the illegal sex trade over the last few years.
No police report of the incident was on record at the Raleigh police department Saturday.
Then we'll wait. Believe me, we ARE interested.
Chalmers said no criminal charges have been filed against anyone from his department and that the names of the officers allegedly involved in the incident aren't being released because of confidentiality issues.
Here's an idea-- have Crime Stoppers make up posters with the Durham Police officers' pictures, and pass them around neighborhoods in Raleigh and Durham.
You're right, I did, but it's a state exam, isn't it, not a Durham thing, right? Or is all NC just as corrupt as Durham? According to other NC and nearby-state posters, it isn't.
Abrams is also a Dukie.
"Here's an idea-- have Crime Stoppers make up posters with the Durham Police officers' pictures, and pass them around neighborhoods in Raleigh and Durham."
LOL!
I doubt that he will. In the world of LE, when a cop lies to an investigator, he's toast. The only reason they get away with it in this situation is because their contact with Wheeler was with his media persona, not as an investigator assigned to the case. Nevertheless, Wheeler will NEVER trust them again.
Thanks! I read that article and I missed it. Wonder what was said behind closed doors. And I also wonder why the doors had to be closed for the issue of pretrial publicity.
That's explains why his order was prepared for his signature. Just a thought, but if there is a trial (and I still don't think there will be), I wonder if they're not going to allow cameras in the courtroom.
"I wonder if they're not going to allow cameras in the courtroom."
Remember the old 60s' slogan, "The Whole World is Watching!"
Maybe time to revive it. Durham judges can't get away
with anything anymore, because they won't be operating
in the dark.
(Maybe it's time for one of them to get with the FBI and offer up some info, by way of a plea deal for themselves.)
Mike, when you think about it he got 2 different grand juries to indict on absolutely no credible evidence. The second GJ was after mountains of exculpatory evidence had been made public. Yeah, I know, I know, the ham sandwich thing. Just that the GJ apparently ask no questions. With the dumbing down of the education system in this country it is very possible that he could get 12 to convict on no evidence. That is what makes the judicial system so scary today. Your jurors may not be able to read, write or do basic math. But they can register to vote and sit on a jury. SCARY!!!
Blinco's Sports Bar on Glenwood Avenue.
Speaking of sleazy public authorities, do you think Ms. Melanie should be reminded to follow up on an alleged DPD assault incident outside a Raleigh nightclub 2 nights ago? See--

I assume the nightclub has a name. It would be nice if they could at least print the name of the club.
