My kittie "Musica" is 24 years old. Up until now, she has done well but the vet says her thyroid is failing.
She has been with me for almost my entire adult life. She has been on thyroid (and other) medication for the last 6 years but it looks like the medication isn't working any more.
The vet said radiation therapy might work but 24 equates to over a hundred years old in human terms. It would be torture to put her through that. Even a trip to the vet is an ordeal.
Hey--this is a family board!
... the best decision you will ever make! We have been owned by some truly awesome red tabbies! There is just something different and special about an orange/red tabby.[However, others feel the same way about other color kitties, as well ... maybe it is just CATS and how we bond with them.]
Y'all don't have rasslin' matches in 'Bama?
My wife (and I) fell in love with your babies!
Amazing how different they are (something Cat People understand).
LOL!!!
An awwwweeeeee pic if there ever was one :))
I know your son still looks like to you and your wife's hearts.
Thanks -- she used to be quite a pillow-mongerer.
"Thanks -- she used to be quite a pillow-mongerer."
Cute. Our Elliott is the same. Usually sleeps on a flat pillow over my head. A practice he started when he was a young kit. Who cares that it means I have to scootch down in the bed? His comfort's the only thing that matters, right?
Said more prayers for Musica with our three cat boys this morning. As mentioned, I whisper them when the masked men are involved because it always makes them purr.
Please continue to keep us posted. As others have pointed out, you have a great deal of support here. Cat lovers understand. We really do.
That's hysterical. The expression on the pup's face is priceless. Looks like the dog's saying, "Show me where I signed up for this and do it now!"
I take it the two of them went on to be good buddies? Certainly looks that way.
Your Edgrr rules! What a great looking kit who has obviously grown up to be a happening cat.
There's something about cats named Edgar or Edgrr. We had three Edgar's over a period of many years. All three of ours were blue point Siamese with huge hearts and very big loving personalities. May be tempted to return to the name Edgar one day. Our current blue boy is Elliott. A name that suits him perfectly.
Please give my compliments to Edgrr. Seems clear he chose a great house to live in!
I shall certainly do so! Thanks very much, Edgrr loves compliments. ;-)
Please give our best to Elliott!
That's a pretty good kitty right there!
I will pray for your cat. It is amazing that your cat has lived to be this old! When my dog passed, I said the very same thing. God gave us animals and some of them are our companions. I cannot imagine why we can't see them in Heaven. Keep us posted.
Thanks Vicki!
I am seriously thinking about getting kittens right away (even if the wife says she doesn't want them) when Musica joins her sister and many of the beloved mentioned on this thread.
I won't be home (most of my work is on the road 4-5 days a week) so my vote isn't the strongest -- Mrs. Freedumb is the vote that matters. But something tells me it may be the best way to deal with her loss.
Not them inter-species kind. Goes against nature--kind of like them same sex marriages.
Too true--since I got adopted by a Black cat, I have a soft spot for all black cats.
Carolyn
Just curious - what did you shoot them with?
I am not even sure what kinds of prayers I am asking for. I want Musica to be well (again) -- she has been to the precipice before and has been miraculously well. But if it isn't mean to be, then I need prayers to help me see when and if I need to take action to alleviate her suffering. So I guess I need prayers for me to have wisdom.
I have invited some others to this thread who have recently lost or will lose their beloved companions to ask for your prayers.
Thank you all so much. God bless you.
Praying for you, your wife and your kitty.
May God give you wisdom, comfort and peace.
God bless!
