Firefox is great, when it's not consuming memory and taking 90% cpu time.

GRAPHIC DESIGN: GIMP REPLACES: PAINT SHOT, PHOTO SHOP, DRAW, etc.
Quite simply the best. Better than Draw. Better than any of the Microsoft products. Better than PaintShop Pro. I've been totally frustrated by having to switch graphics design projects between programs, because each excels at a given task. At each task, however, GIMP is as good or better than any commercial program.
Total and complete BullS**T! GIMP's interface sucks hardcore period.

Well Ill say they were right on firefox, NVU, Clamwin, and maybe Audacity but OO is note the better of MS Office and Gimp is certainly not as good as photoshop.

While Firefox beats the hell out of IE, and Thunderbird is a better email client, I'd hesitate to say that OpenOffice is "better" than MS Office. It does 99 percent of what you expect from MS Office, but still needs to file off some of the rough edges (printing an envelope in OpenOffice is a pain in the ass compared to MS Word, for example).
ClamWin for AV? No way. Clam is great for servers, but you're better off with free versions of AVG or AntiVir for the desktop.

I'll take a look at NVU. It sounds interesting.

I'm using Open Source 2.0 and it's pretty good but what do they have that replaces MS Publisher? I really need that.

While most of these I agree with, I have to disagree with the GIMP being better than Photoshop...
IMHO, the GIMP doesn't handle four-color process (CMYK) and pantones as good as Photoshop--a critical element of commercial and heavy-duty graphic manipulation.
It's good for the casual/home user, but when it comes down to serious desktop publishing/graphic design, I'll still take Photoshop over the GIMP...

I would not say that Thunderbird is better than Outlook, mainly because Outlook is much more than just a mail client. Now if you're speaking of Outlook Express, then yes, Thunderbird takes it, hands down.
The closest OSS equivelant to Outlook would be Novell's Evolution, which I do use and it can talk to an Exchange server, although I have no Exchange servers I have to talk to.
