I sure like what I am running, ...it is the pre release version but the 3-D effect is WOW! and I am finding the "cube" to be very useful!
It is not , however for older boxes....lot's of the linux distros would likely do much better....
You do need a video card that has 3-D ability!
If we use Window 98 as a guide, that would be in 2014 at the earliest.
Novell that did such great things [sarcasm] with PC Tools, WordPerfect, Ventura and many other formerly great programs.
I doubt Novell can mount much of a challenge to Windows.
Short answer; no.
With security, the market--or most likely, the hacker community--will determine the winner in the security wars. Microsoft's biggest burden comes from the fact that Windows is everywhere, making it a target. As Linux becomes more popular, the same problem may very well occur.
Did this guy even show up for comp class? The entire article is very choppy and difficult to read. I can't decide if the guy throws slips of paper with industry related words in a box, draws them out randomly, and transcribes the article, or if he has a special "journalist" keyboard that has a key for every industry catch phrase and tidbit of conventional wisdom, and he simply hits those keys in ramdom order.
These two paragraphs are a perfect example. First he says Linux is inherently safer, then in the next paragraph he says Microsoft biggest problem is their ubiquity and if Linux grows, it may suffer the same problem. Doesn't he even know what he thinks?
is this a serious question or a joke? please...
I'm telling you the truth. As soon as Windows Vista comes out, the mainstream media will be saying inane crap like "Look at Windows! It's so cool!" and "Windows is the best".
It wouldn't surprise me to see an ad that says something stupid like "People who use Windows Vista get laid by the hot chicks. If you use Linux, you may as well be the '40 Year Old Virgin' because Linux is not cool". Sad to say, kids and teens would be easily swayed by such ads.
I don't use Linux to be "cool" or "hip" or "trendy". I use Linux because it's the smart thing to do in these days of computer security.
