My Dragon Fly and Me
If I could be a Dragon Fly and wing my way through the sky I would never be shy just me and my Dragon Fly!
By moonlight we ride the wind chase the comets tail for fun by day we would hide from the sun our fragile wings would come undone
On darkest nights we would use fireflies as our guide we would dip and we would glide through the heavens open wide and scatter diamonds in the night sky my Dragon Fly and me...
And we would wing past our lovers silent in the night... to kiss their face in our flight much to their surprise and delight my Dragon Fly and me in sight...
Such a view do we share away up here in the air of breezes soft through our hair my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Furthermore, no more donuts! The image of the beefy cop is getting a makeover in Bangkok, Thailand, where 72 overweight police officers work out on the first day of a one-month weight-loss program. --WHO AM I?
--1. I was born April 7, 1954 in Hong Kong, China.
--2. At age 7, my parents moved to Australia to find new jobs
and I was left behind to study at the Chinese Opera
Research Institute.
--3. I appeared in my first film, the Cantonese feature "Big
and Little Wong Tin Bar," when I was only eight, and went
on to appear in a number of musical films.
--4. After Bruce Lee's tragic, unexpected death in 1973, I was
singled out as a likely successor of his mantle as the
king of Hong Kong cinema.
--5. I was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the
MTV Movie Awards in 1995 by Quentin Tarantino, who
reportedly threatened to boycott the ceremony if I did
not receive the award.

Sultry
Sultry moved her hips to the distant sound of drums swinging her skirt in circles like a CanCan dancer ruffles circled her head
under long brunette tresses honey colored shoulders bared
full breasts covered in misty sweat as Sultry whirled faster and faster with the increasing tempo of the drums and the hot night of humid air reeking with the smell of dead fish from the nearby wharf, Sultry danced her escape dance to the beat of marimbas and dust
filling the night air as it spun from her feet and dreamed of a lush, thick tent carpets on the floor and the smell of sweet dates lifting from the plates placed on low tables
as she lifted her arms covered with the thinnest of silken veils and slowly moved her hips to the beat of a distant drum, Sultry swayed before the emir and cymbals clashed and outside the tent the stench of camels floated through the hot night air.
Sultry thought, rank camels are not any better than rotting fish. But such is the price from wharf to tent, same sweat, different stench alas, the silken veils are better than rags.

Give it that special Snuggles treatment: Michaela Long clutches her young pig, Snuggles, as she sheds a tear at the Graham County Fair in Hill City, Kan. --Answer to "WHO AM I?"
Jackie Chan. Upon his graduation in 1971, Chan found work as
an acrobat and a movie stuntman, most notably in "Fist of
Fury," starring Hong Kong's resident big-screen superstar,
Bruce Lee. For that film, he reportedly completed the highest
fall in the history of the Chinese film industry, earning the
respectful notice of the formidable Lee, among others. In the
early 1980s, Chan tried his luck in Hollywood, with little
success. As one of the biggest international box office stars,
his popularity in America was limited to the savviest
filmgoers. In 2002, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk
of Fame and was honored with the Taurus Award for best action
movie star at the World Stunt Awards.

Yes, I just started at the top of the pings. I'm bushed and wanted to decompressed with the ac on high and see if I can stay awake for the 11 o'clock news.
I should have taken some photos. Lack of sleep stopped me from thinking much at all.
By the time I got back from spending my gasoline on the delight of the car's ac, the neighbors had taken most of the trees down and were drinking beers in a driveway waiting for power to come back.

Desperation in the Dark
The dark
it embraces me
for the tunnel is small
and hot it is as like to kill
as I gasp for breath
for my time is running fast
My judgment is past
yet I struggle with death
for I seek life still
even as I stumble and fall
learning what fate may be
so stark
Amid smells of disturbed earth
I work to outrace the dawn
and the noose waiting there
fearing it more then the dark
in this self made grave
if I fail here
So I work amid tears
my hope I struggle to save
and want no stone they mark
set over me with care
so I exert my brawn
as time runs on so terse

I've been gone for awhile, and had some amazing experiences. The following is bad poetry, and feel free to rewrite, but it summarizes one particular event.
Lightening cracks overhead, Thunder shakes you to the core.
Hail pelts your skin, Rain soaks your clothes,
Your breath hangs like a tiny cloud in the cold air.
You pray that tomorrow will be a hot dry day.
The morning sun burns through the mist.
Beads of dew hang like pearls on the long meadow grass.
Watching as the shadows of the pines become clearer,
A rush of thankfulness erupts from your inner most depths.
Thank you God for the showers, because without them,
We may never truly appreciate the sun.

Good morning,

Good morning everyone!

Hi ScubieNuc!
Welcome back.
I would guess from your poem you have been camping.
The morning sun burns through the mist.
Beads of dew hang like pearls on the long meadow grass.
Watching as the shadows of the pines become clearer,
These images you describe are especially lovely. I would not call this bad poetry. Very nice indeed. ;)

Well, mainly it would be on my end, I would create another page off FR where we could have this selection of writing.
I tried the Anthology website some years back. Anthologies are a great deal of work, and to be fair to all who post in the Lair every original poem should be entered into the Anthology.
We could have a selected poems page where choice treasures have a lovely home. Something that has a little organization and order. (That is something I have to work on LOL.)
Our poets are so very talented that a special home for a fine poem, or series of poems, is what I have in mind. I think that would be easier than to look through twenty nine threads looking for a specific poem. Of course, that will have to be done anyway, and an author could ask for a poem to been housed at the selected poem website. All help in searching for poems would be greatly appreciated by bentfeather. ;)
This open for dicussion to all poets who post in the Lair, please offer any and all suggestions.

WOW chilling piece!
Really great lines here.

Amazing lines.
