You aren't in a minority, I suspect. The Italians began the World Cup by diving and play acting, especially in the game against USA. But they started playing proper football in their matches against Ukraine and Germany. It should be a great final!

I was one of the those "Nancy boys" when I was in high school 30 years ago. Every day in the lockeroom, the football quarterback and his pea-brained teamates would pick on one of the soccer players "just for fun." One day, he made the mistake of picking on me. When he poked me in the chest, I bloodied his face, threw him over a bench, and then literally stuffed him into his locker. The whole skirmish lasted about 15 seconds. Word quickly got out that I had beaten the crap out of our 6'3", 210 lb., all-county, superstar quarterback, and he claimed that I had sucker punched him and that I never could have taken him out in a fair fight. So what did the idiot do? He picked on me again -- this time in the hallway between periods -- so that he could demonstrate how tough he was to the entire school. Even though the guy outweighed me by 50+ lbs., I beat the crap out of him for 30 seconds before a teacher pulled me off of him.

In high school I didn't play football, but I wrestled. It was amazing how many football players would tell me I couldn't fight, all I could do was wrestle. Of course no would really wanted to test the hypothesis.

Now in college, everyone gives the wrestlers here a wide berth, especially the other athletes.

We are doing camps right now, and World Cup Fever has taken over a bunch of the guys. In between sessions at the camp they play soccer on the mats. One of our guy's sister plays soccer here too. So he called in a couple of ringers to make sure they won.

I went deployed to Spain last year.

The males there had no problem wearing capri pants with mullets and sandals...

They also love soccer.
