I accidentally saw a picture of this waterfall over the weekend, and tracked it down. The first image puts it in "landscape" context. This is size-reduced, click for the full-size. It looks very other-worldly. Doesn't this picture make it look like the river is flowing uphill?
The second is a close-up with people for scale, unlike last week's lava falls.
People think I'm nutty because Iceland is among my most desired travel locations.

Very cool pics - I would love to tour Iceland someday...
All I can say is WOW!!!!
Me too. What about a Geology trip to Iceland? A week of active geologic processes. Could we camp instead of staying in hotels?
A dream vacation, but my wife would insist on Hawaii first.
There is ferry access to Vestmanneyjar (sp?), home of Eldfell volcano (the one that almost plugged the harbor when it erupted on the city limits) and Surtsey from Thorlakshofn, which is west of the map boundaries. It's a 3-hour ride; I found some pictures of the trip via Google, pretty spectacular if the weather is good.
I've already got my "Learn Icelandic" CD. Give me six months and we are a go. We could go to Hawaii for the lava tubes first. The cost of airfare are about the same I think.
My hubby wouldn't care which one as he prefers Volcan Arenal in Costa Rica.
Hawaii is "ice"land.
It does look as though the water is going uphill! Neat...
