KUTV) SOUTH JORDAN A former high school teacher accused of having sex with a student was severely beaten inside her home.
Thirty-year-old Melinda Lee Deluca told police she came home Friday afternoon and was alone when she was jumped from behind. Police said she was beaten so badly that she was flown by medical helicopter to the hospital from her home in South Jordan.
Deluca was recently accused of having sex with one of her students at Copper Hills High School in West Jordan. Police believe the assault could be related to the charges.
“It does appear that this is related to the incident in West Jordan with her teaching position at Copper Hills High School," said Lt. Matt Evans with the South Jordan Police Department. "It doesn't appear to be a random event.”
"I hope they find out who did it and I hope they put them away. Underage or not – nobody deserves anything like this,” said one neighbor who didn’t want to be identified.
Police are not saying wether the two suspects were men or teenage boys.
I was thinking much the same thing, but my suspicions run in the direction of the boy's mother. Well, without the "competition" part, but I'll admit that does add an even creepier possibility.
What happened to innocent until proven guilty? If she committed a crime, it is up to the courts to hand down punishment. Punishment by mob is the wrong way to go.

The law should provide the ultimate disincentive for child rape... but in today's world, lawyers write laws to make it easy for fellow lawyers to win cases. They don't write laws to secure justice.

The law must be reformed and liberal judges thrown out or society wil descends into anarchy.

I'm not paying taxes to support a school system where predators in positions of authority have the pick of the crop to exploit. Not on my dime. Not with my children. Hopefully the parents sue the pants off the teacher and the school system - that'll help stop it.
And those of you who imagine how charming it is to be seduced by a teacher are forgetting what high school is really like.
This is a crime against a young person, and against his family and against all of us who pay the salaries of these vile lowlifes to educate our children. Our kids can't read, write, or do math and here's one more clue as to why....

It is not surprising that she was beat up, justified or not. People are getting frustrated with female pedophiles getting a pass from activist judges.

This is an undeniable truth. If people knew that they would be accountable instantaneously to their neighbors, instead of the slow legal apparatus that is designed to operate dispassionately it would make child molestation much less frequent, and in the most egregious cases, repeat offenses most unlikely.
Often we crow about letting justice prevail, but even justice recognizes "crimes of passion" and treats them less severely than premeditated acts. If caught and prosecuted for this beating, I doubt there would be serious consequences for the perpetrators - and there is an argument, a good argument that this should be so.
Whether right or wrong, beatings like this have the desired effect on society.
Sounds like someone doesn't like Ms. Deluca. Maybe it was one of her students.
It makes you wonder if the allegations of sex were also some kind of payback by a student.

First, the articles neglected many facts. You had to actually dig deep and find that the teacher not only seduced an underaged boy but she did so with drugs and alcohol. What is interesting is that she taught sign language.
Why attack a teacher in her home? Sign language may hold the clue...perhaps the boy was deaf or was in the handicapped area of school with another situation. If this is true, you have a teacher preying upon a child that is handicapped. And you don't do that and get away with the crime.
I would bet if this is the case, a parent/guardian/family member was involved in this attack. And in a way, I don't blame them one bit. BTW, the consequences of this particular case goes further than just sex when drugs and alcohol were involved. That is a sign of forcing your will on someone normally unwilling when sober. Moreover, the drugs and alcohol may cause problems down the road.
Just so we're clear, the phrase "I'd hit it" truly applies to this woman under the presumed circumstances.
What you have said includes much in the way of presumption. Just because drugs and alcohol were used does not mean the boy was unwilling.
As I said, the woman committed a crime and needs to be punished, but there is virtually no chance the boy was damaged.

And the deviant teacher certainly needs to be punished.
All that said, I would have given my right arm to be "abused" by a beautiful, sexually insatiable 29 year old female teacher when I was in high school. That is true of 97% of teenage boys, and it will never change.
