I'm Sorry for Being a Marry Maniac; Star Bares Her Bridezilla Regret (extortion an inside joke)
NY Post ^ | July 1, 2006 | DON KAPLAN

Star Jones Reynolds conceded yesterday on the "Today" show that she "abused" her celebrity status when planning her over-the-top nuptials two years ago. Jones' 2004 wedding to Al Reynolds became a joke among TV-industry types as she blatantly squeezed wedding vendors to provide their services for free in exchange for promising to mention them on "The View" and in magazine articles about her.

In the months leading up to the wedding, she even argued on air with her co-hosts about the guest list....At the wedding itself, she allegedly tried to take a camera from co-host Joy Behar because Jones had promised exclusive pictures to People magazine.

Jones yesterday said she didn't realize that her antics had stirred up so much animosity.....While not specifically singling out the wedding, ABC brass has said it was Jones' off-camera escapades that soured her image among viewers and convinced them not to renew her contract.....ABC specifically singled out how Jones handled her dramatic weight loss, never admitting that she had undergone what appeared to be gastric-bypass surgery.

Jones now claims she has always been honest about how a "medical intervention" was the reason she was able to drop more than 150 pounds in a matter of months back in 2003.

ROTFLOL! I see comedy skits, Scrappleface, and just plain fun with this from everyone. Picture Rosie on one side of the room, Joy on the other, with the last piece of sushi in the middle of the floor ;-D

I liked Rosie years ago when she was a stand up comic. Her jokes were clean enough for the older kids. when I had the chance, I'd tune into her show. When she announced that she was a lesbian, that was one thing, but when she tried to tear Tom Selleck a new @sshole, I said enough of this. She just slid downhill from there, imo.

FR should have a "countdown to destruction" thread for this show, when the new season starts. Those bums in H'wood will probably steal all the jokes, though :(

The show is already kaput when Bwabwa and Star bared their fangs. Rosie will deliver the coup d'etat. How can the viewers ever see the show in the same light again (even if the original on-air sweetness and light was all phony)?

It's a killer that Star will have on her media resume that she KO'ed an ABC show. Let her take that to the networks.

Well, she could always get a gig hawking cubic zirconium on the Home Shopping Network. Or maybe she could get a job as a wedding planner? LOL.

It makes me laugh when I think of the recriminations at home with Al--- "I told you not to extort all that wedding stuff, Star. Now you're finished, so what's a 30 year-old stud like me supposed to do with a 40 year-old flop like you."

Rosie's daily donut order---3 of each---boxed not bagged.

See any "wimmins" in that picture? 'Course not. Just Al's glee club friends and the ravaging (not ravishing) bridezilla.

And who will replace Star? They already nixed Patricia Heaton for Meredith's place.

Gotta laugh, tho, when the first night this happened, the only person they could find to interview about it on ET or one of the other tab shows was ... drum roll ... someone I'm certain is auditioning for the job ...

Omarosa!!!

OMG----Omorosa? A Trump reject? She'll audition for anything.

Heaton being conservative and pro-life would have been a good addition to those warped liberals.

Looks like they'll stick with "tolerance and compassion" and go for (gag) duversity (sic).

Please...one was enough. I'm sooo tempted to be bad here. Makes me think of a nursery-school taunt. "Here comes the bride ... hmm, hmm and hmmm." Naw, can't do it.

Well the media is in bed together, so to speak, so they might blackball her. Pardon the pun. However, there is cable. Wedding planner, LMSO!(laugh my socks off :-D)

I think Star is savvy enough to learn from her mistakes. She shouldn't have solicited freebies in the first place. Tacky! If Al is a gold digger, we'll find out soon enough. Imo, she should lay low for a year, or so. Rehab her image. She's already been thinking ahead, because when Baba says she was protecting her, it was using dull knives, instead of razor sharp ones.

If I had to pick sides, well I'd pick Star because I positively loathe Babawawa. Did I mention that I can't stand that woman? I hope Rosie sends "The View" down in flames. Blahblah and Joy may have claws, but Rosie has brass knuckles and a baseball bat. She no longer seems comfortable in the company of heterosexual women. Jmo, from what I've seen since she slid into homosexual militancy. This ought to be good ;-)

Mmmmm, donuts!

I have a great idea, Liz. How many people here would like to start a non monetary football pool-type thing where we pick when ABC cancels the show? We can send it to the idiots over at that network, lol!

Pinged you rte66 because maybe you might be up for some humor at baba's expense ;-)

Star might survive the contretemps-----but broadcast media is a tight-knit fraternity with rigid rules about in-house behavior. Word travels fast, and Star did the unthinkable, and went public with her gripes. Big no-no.

Then again, Star has duhversity (sic) in her favor. She'll mine that nugget like a gold miner working the mother lode.

..... If Al is a gold digger, we'll find out soon....

Oh please-----a 30 year old self-styled stud muffin marries an obese 40 year old with a network salary and valuable media contacts, why?

Women make a huge mistake. They have romantic sincere thoughts about a guy and figure he's thinking the same thoughts. The reality is a man tells a woman what he thinks she wants to hear.

Man, I betcha every gossip columnist in NYC has a runner charting Al Reynolds' whereabouts. Front page every NYC paper if he's seen with some slim young thing...........LOL.

Oh, its a Very Big Deal---getting kicked off ABC. Betcha things behind the scenes got really viscious for ABC to knock Star off her perch.

Star did become a joke due to the bridal extortion stunts she pulled, on-air and off. But there were other factors.

Course she could write a tell-all---but that would really cook ger goose----she'd be lucky to get an invite to the opening of a supermarket.

I never watch that show. Seems to me, Barbara Walters had a big come down to have joined the View. If the rumors are true that Rosie is taking Star's place......good luck to them. I won't watch now, that won't entice me to tune in at all. They can have all the cat fights they want. Loony liberal infighting is worth a laugh or two, not much more.

Maybe. With Starzilla gone, though, she will think - and will tell everyone within earshot - that the show folded because she is not on it anymore.

That's not as much fun as when they were catfighting with the Ditzy Chimps.

I think it will take a year, but I do think Baba is already sick of the show and ready to move on.

Walters is the creator and a producer of The View. Whatever Bwabwa says, goes.....Star found out the hard way.

Aaargh, you mentioned the diversity thingy before I did! Of course she'll play the card, and I'm surprised that the reverend isn't sitting there holding her hand.

I am sooo out of the loop! I didn't realize their age difference. I know all about the reality of what a certain kind of man will do if he thinks he can get what he wants.

Men and women are always making huge mistakes when it comes to the other sex. Al better be real discreet in the coming months, but unfortunately I thought about him ditching her too...
