The quarterfinal round concludes with a pair of enticing match-ups. The day's first match pits England against Portugal (10:30 a.m. ET, ABC) in Gelsenkirchen, while a rematch of the 1998 final between Brazil and France (3:00 p.m. ET, ESPN) will wrap the Round of 8.

The Brazilians have won more World Cups than any other country. Next to samba and the girls from Rio, Brazilians are obssessed with football. If they don't bring home glory, there's going to be a huge letdown if they don't win because in Brazilians' minds, they are best in football and deservedly so.
Deutschland zuerst in Wein, zuerst in Frauen, zuerst im Lied und zuerst im Fußball! Die Nation freut sich auf Mannschaft das Bilden von Deutschland World Champions von Deutschland in Berlin am 9. Juli!
Haha, that picture of Lehmann is great! Look at that expression!
Yesterday's game should put an end to the complaining about Klinsmann's choice for keeper. Hnad of god indeed.
Though the most impressive thing about that game was the pinball heads of god. Heh.
Impressive work from your side! Thanks for summing all the necessary infos up on one thread. DANKESCHÖN!!
Thanks for your support. It wasn´t a nice game yesterday, both teams were nervous and played carefully. The game was actually on a good level after Argentina´s goal. Germany became more offensive, a real play evolved.
My predictions for today: ENG-POR tie after 90 minutes, and a England win after 120 minutes. Brazil will knock out France and also be in the final, although I don´t wish that. Germany-Italy on Tuesday will be tough, since Germany has never won against Italy in a World Cup. However, the 12th man and a strong unity within the German team (even the rivals Lehmann and Munichs goalkeeper Oliver Kahn have shaken hands) can make the difference.
BERLIN, BERLIN, WIR FAHREN NACH (WE´RE GOING TO) BERLIN!!
Wenn wir in Berlin sind
Mitten unter den Mengen des Heimatlandes
Ruhm und Ehre zu gewinnen
Ewige Berühmtheit zu gewinnen
Für Deutschland es nach Hause und Herz
Wir gehen zur World Cup
Wir gehen zur World Cup
Wir gehen nach Berlin
Wir spielen, um zu gewinnen
Wir gehen mit Köpfen gehalten hoch
Wir Footballspieler werden Legenden sein
Wahr und stark, stolz und hoch
Wenn wir nach Berlin gehen
Vor den Mengen des Heimatlandes
Berühmtheit und Ehre zu gewinnen
Ewigen Ruhm zu gewinnen
Für Deutschland im Haus und Herzen
Wir werden die World Cup fordern!
It couldn't be a Germany-Italy final as they meet in the semi-finals.
Other semi will be England/Portugal v Brazil/France..
I wouldn't call a match that goes to penalties a stroll in he park. But I think its true that Germany are now favourites...
As a commentator nailed it:
Germany celebrates itself - and the world is cordially invited to join us! ;-) The whole country is covered with our black-red-gold banner! I have never seen so many flags since the pictures of the reunification-festivities in 1990.
Portugal you can do it. Put England out of this. Australia is gone and now Portugal has the chance to get rid of the other country full of accent snobs.
To my relatives in Nottingham....Up England!
