LONDON - Author J.K. Rowling said two characters will die in the last installment of her boy wizard series, and she hinted Harry Potter might not survive either.
"I have never been tempted to kill him off before the final because I've always planned seven books, and I want to finish on seven books," Rowling said on Monday's "Richard and Judy" television show.
"I can completely understand, however, the mentality of an author who thinks, `Well, I'm gonna kill them off because that means there can be no non-author written sequels. So it will end with me, and after I'm dead and gone they won't be able to bring back the character'."
Rowling declined to commit herself about Harry, saying she doesn't want to receive hate mail.
"The last book is not finished. But I'm well into it now. I wrote the final chapter in something like 1990, so I've known exactly how the series is going to end," she said.
Rowling said people are sometimes shocked to hear that she wrote the end of book seven before she had a publisher for the first book in the series.
"The final chapter is hidden away, although it's now changed very slightly. One character got a reprieve. But I have to say two die that I didn't intend to die," she said. "A price has to be paid. We are dealing with pure evil here. They don't target extras do they? They go for the main characters. Well, I do."
Rowling is the richest woman in Britain _ wealthier than even the queen _ with a fortune estimated by Forbes magazine last year at more than $1 billion.
Whatever she writes next, Rowling is sure of one thing: It won't be as successful as Harry Potter.
"I don't think I'm ever going to have anything like Harry again. You just get one like Harry."
Extra points if Snape gets it in the nape of the neck.
BTW Severus of Antioch:
was by birth and education a pagan, who was baptized in the martyry of Leontius at Tripolis.
He almost at once openly united himself with the Acephali, repudiating his own baptism and his baptizer, and even the Catholic church itself...
Severus is said to have stirred up a fierce religious war among the population of Alexandria, resulting in bloodshed and conflagrations. To escape punishment for this violence, he fled to Constantinople...
Severus was eagerly dispatched by Anastasius to occupy the vacant patriarch of Antioch, and the very day of his enthronement solemnly pronounced in his church an anathema on Chalcedon, and accepted the Henoticon he had previously repudiated.
If Neville is the chosen one, that puts a whole new spin on the entire series . . . Voldemort was after the wrong guy all along!!!
No, I have a real strong feeling that Snape's offing of Dumbledore was not as it seemed.
Snape may turn out to have been a good guy all along.
Where does that come from?
I just like Hermione 'cause she earns what she gets through hard work, rather than through birthright or outrageous luck.
As far as I'm concerned Harry can buy it. Snape, too. And Malfoy.
But she has lots of characters to choose from.
I guess, I hope its not a Weasley, either.
As long as she doesn't kill off characters to avoid answering questions.

I hope Fenrir dies a painful death at the hands of Bill or Lupin.
I kept thinking that at the end of the sixth book. Dumbledore could search for the remaining horcruxes more easily if everyone thought he was dead.
I'm afraid Snape IS a good guy.
It seems pretty obvious that Snape killed Dumbledore because Dumbledore wanted to be killed (apparently he'd been horribly maimed and cursed in the search for Voldemort's whatchamacallits...) AND it would get Snape into Moldywarts inner circle. Snape also refused to kill, maim or carry off Harry Potter when he had a chance.
He's a good guy.
Nope. Neville is going to end up as Herbology professor at Hogworts.
Reread Half-Blood Prince. Dumbledore goes over, in painstaking detail, why Harry is the chosen one. In short, it is because Voldemort marked him as his equal when he tried to kill him and ended up sharing some of his powers with Harry and he didn't mark Neville.
Here's the prophecy, just for reference...
I think Fred and/or George have had it.
Voldemort hates wise guys. :)
Snape is a goner. Voldemort is going to be p*ssed. And if Snape has been working for Voldemort all this time, Harry (or better yet RON) will kill him.
Neville better live. He's been through too much. He needs to avenge his parents BIG TIME.
I don't know why, but I'm thinking that at least one Weasly will buy the farm. It SHOULD be Percy. Which means that it won't be (unless he finally comes to his senses at the last possible minute). Sadly, I think it'll be Fred or George.

Badda Bing!
I think it may be both. I can't see one letting the other fall without going too.
Bellatrix LeStrange must die by Neville hand.
Hopefully the only blood shed at the wedding is between the Molly v. Fleur catfight. :-D It has the potential to be hysterical.
I hope Fenrir dies a painful death at the hands of Bill or Lupin.
That would be great. I'm looking forward to a Neville v. Bellatrix show down, too. I don't remember where I read it, but Helena Bonham Carter (Marla Singer from Fight Club, Tim Burton's girlfriend/wife/baby mama) is going to play Bellatrix in the OotP movie. She is exactly who I pictured playing her!
Neville will have his moment to shine. He'll probably stand up to Harry, Ron and Hermione again.
LOL!
Actually, I think Voldemort kills Snape for double crossing him. Or it'll have someone to do with the Unbreakable Vow.
And Voldemort will already suspect.
Dumbledore was most adamant that Harry GET SNAPE when it became evident the situation had gone bad.
I reckon Snape and Dumbledore had it worked out in advance to fool everyone.
