I just like Hermione 'cause she earns what she gets through hard work, rather than through birthright or outrageous luck.
As far as I'm concerned Harry can buy it. Snape, too. And Malfoy.
But she has lots of characters to choose from.
I guess, I hope its not a Weasley, either.

Joanne Rowling has repeatedly said that Hermione is based on her and her sister and dropped hints that she sees herself as Hermione. Actually this is a very common angle for an author - the character that seems to be something of a narrator is an avatar for the writer.
Stray thought - Could Harry die at the end of Book 7 in a flash forward of a hundred years or so?
