Motorcyclist Struck and Killed by Lightning
State Police say a 43-year old motorcyclist from Virginia Beach was struck and killed by lightning Tuesday afternoon in Southampton County.
Officials say Richard Moran Jr.was stuck around 4:10pm while traveling westbound on Route 58 near Courtland.
After the strike, the bike ran off the roadway into the eastbound lane and eventually caught fire.
The motorcyclist was not struck by another vehicle. Officials say Moran, of the 1400 block of Eddystone Drive, died at the scene from the lightning strike, not the subsequent crash

I was riding a 75 Honda CB400F from Lake City to St. Augustine, Florida, when lightning hit a pine tree next to the road. I didn't feel a shock, but had bruises from flying chunks of wood. I was so startled that I almost lost control. It was the loudest sound I've ever heard.

Just saw an unsolved mysteries episode where a guy got struck by lightning while on a motorcycle. He survived, due to a mysterious lady in a black dress that came and prayed Psalm 23 over him, and then walked away.
Before she came, he had no pulse. They were going to give up on him. Some of the paramedics saw her and some didn't.
It sounded pretty odd. The guy recovered, but he spent about 2 months in the hospital.
