Lacrosse lawyer wants apology for poster (Duke)

Lawyer Alex Charns unleashed a second salvo this week in what he calls his "poster war," demanding a public police apology for a March placard that sought help in solving the Duke University lacrosse rape case.
Charns, representing one of the unindicted players, also reiterated an earlier request that the Durham Police Department launch an internal investigation into the situation.
Police spokeswoman Kammie Michael said the department had no immediate comment.
According to Charns, the poster libeled 46 lacrosse players before the district attorney acknowledged he had sufficient evidence to prosecute only three for the alleged rape of an exotic dancer during an off-campus party at 610 N. Buchanan Blvd. in mid-March.
The poster said the accuser "was sodomized, raped, assaulted and robbed. This horrific crime sent shock waves throughout our community."

No, they don't. They mostly just publish the spin that the left feeds them.

The prosecution better watch it because they are handing the defense the perfect justification for tainting the jury pool and requesting a change of venue. If that happens, this DA is screwed. It doesn't matter, because after the election in November the democrat DA is going to drop this case, and treat women and blacks the way Democrats always treat women and blacks. It must be okay, because both designated minorities keep coming back for more.

Any commercial for home security, or identity theft, etc. the criminals are all white.

Chief of Police is and has been in Durham.
He's also been involved with some cases and given interviews.

I have been checking news reports for Chalmers name and have only read "has said" quotes attributed to him.
Check out the DPD news blog. Why did postings taper off after 3/18/06? (Note: Chalmers did sign a letter dated 5/01/06, LOL.)

Rape case's gaps?
A prosecutor's take on evidence in the Duke lacrosse team rape case doesn't always jibe with what the record seems to show
EXCERPT
Yet it's in the interest of justice to hold the prosecution to high standards of conduct. Nifong may have conspicuously staked himself out as believing in the three Duke students' guilt, but his duty has to be to continue to evaluate the strength of his case against the three, all of whom say they are innocent. If at any point he concludes that the evidence is unlikely to convince a jury beyond a reasonable doubt that crimes were committed, his only responsible course would be to drop the charges.

Haha, I have heard that from other golden owners. And the goldens I have been around resemble that remark.

Charns wants the head of whomever authorized that hidious "libel for money" poster; I want the heads of those in academia, I don't give a rat's butt, whether student or teacher who slandered and libeled the team in posters slapped all over the "public" place -- photos of the LaCrosse Team.

Yep. And I want the heads on a platter of those at Duke, whether teachers or students, who made up those posters of the Duke LaCrosse Team and plastered these as "guilty" all over the "public place". Just mere days after the alleged event.

I wouldn't wish this nightmare on anyone, but once in it, I'd want to go all the way through it! That's the ticket! That's exactly what ya do.

We need all the help we can get here in NC from those in Alameda County -- so close to SF and Oakland and Berkeley. If any conservatives know "hell", its conservatives in the east bay! ;>

As I said on the CourtTV board, there is some chance this thing is going to end this week. My clues are:
1. The judge allowing all three defendants to miss the hearing. Certainly if the judge is going to make this go away for their safety you do not want the defendants there.
2. Also you probably want to make this go away during the summer when the fewest Duke students are around to be targets for the unhappy race biters.
3. In addition to it being for their safety, you would want the race baiters to know publically that none of the defendants are in town.
4. As this editorial shows, the politics have changed or are changing. Nifong needs this case to go away or risks losing the November general election. And the sooner it goes away, the more this might calm down and everyone forget about it. It might even preempt this County Commissioner exploring running against Nifong.
So this is being set up as a good time to dismiss. It probably will not happen but if you were the judge and knew this case needed to end, this week would be a good time. Maybe the judge will just throw out the IDs and Nifong will announce it is over on Friday.

Those I want to go down include:
1. Mangum
2. Nifong
3. Brodhead
4. At least on prof at Duke needs to be sued to show them they are personally responsible when they smear someone for their PC purposes
5. Durham Crimestopper
The first two of course deserve criminal and civil sanction. That latter three deserve to series civil sanctions.

Kimmy/Nikki Roberts/Pittman needs to be included on your list. She needs to stand up and tell the truth about what really happened.

That's the direction I think the case is heading. Stephens will through out the lineup. If he doesn't he needs to be added to your list.
My list is a little longer ...
Lil Kim
NBP
Three or four "Reverends"
At least two city "leaders"
A city manager
DPD Detective(s)
Various talking heads
Victoria P, et al

She has told the truth. She merely let Nifong blackmail her into shading her statement. As far asa I know we still have only a five minute window for any rape. Sure she wanted to exploit this, so do talking heads, reporters, race baiters etal.
NBP
Three or four "Reverends"
See the above, they are exploiting something. If an individual NBP threatened someone, they should be tried. The NBP and the race baiters discredit themselves with their actions. This case is merely a vehicle they used. They had little to do with the case. Sure they made Nifong's decision more difficult, but he doesn't have the character for even mildly difficult decisions.
At least two city "leaders"
A city manager
Politically yes, criminally no. They will be sanctioned via Durham county settling with the falsely accused.
DPD Detective(s)
So far the cops other than Himan look like good actors in this to me. Himan may have merely been following Nifong's orders. So for now, I am waiting more evidence on the DPD detectives.
Various talking heads
Victoria P, et al
They are like the NPD and the race baiters. I wish TV had accountability for analysts who are constantly wrong or particularly do not do their homework and lie about the evidence in the case they are analyzing.

Hi, nice to see you back online. I was so sorry to hear about your Mom.
I hope you fared OK with Alberto. We had a few streets flooded here in North Ridge, and had just finished cleaning up after our freak windstorm. Add to that the fact we've had a house full of company for the last week, and there has been little time for Freeping. Now to catch up...
