Now he knows why folks wear a helmet.
"A silver Chrysler New Yorker traveling in the opposite direction took a left turn and collided with the motorcycle"
The classic idiot motorist who failed to yield to the bike.
And why I do not ride anymore.
He lost most of his teeth. Wonder if his helmet preferences will now change.
If he has a broken jaw and nose then he took a facial hit. It's doubtful a helmet would have done him much good.
I don't like helmet laws. (we don't have them in MN, but I wear one anyway as cheap insurance)
He's lucky. Most people in motorcycle accidents without a helmet are organ donors.
This is the reason that I am selling both of my bikes. Here in South Florida, drivers have no respect for bikes at all. I hope Big Ben will be OK and playing this season. We haven't had a good quarterback since Bradshaw and it would be a shame to lose him after only 2 seasons (not to mention a Superbowl).

Incredible. Not nearly as smart as fans may think.
Your odds are better with a helmet. I had one traumatic dismount where the sound of my helmet hitting the blacktop convinced me that my bare head would not have made it.
Some of the first reports I heard included damage to his knees. I also heard a plastic surgeon has been brought in.
Correction: "Steelers star Ben Roethlisberger, the youngest quarterback to be handed a Super Bowl championship..."
Some sports teams put clauses in their player contracts prohibiting dangerous off-field activities such as auto-racing, other competitive sports and motorcycle riding without a helmet.
Additional news.

I think this is about the tenth time this info has been posted.
This guy will need all their prayers. He may have injured his body, but the injury he has inflicted on his own mind and the hearts of his teamates is going to be even tougher to overcome.
This is the guy who said he is careful and rode in groups. There was no group with him that has been reported for this accident.
If you are going to say you ride in groups, ride in groups. Me? I would ride in the middle of the pack, as the front and rear are most dangerous.
I feel sorry for Ben, but his famous last words about riding without a helmet....ouch!!!! Pride cometh before a fall, as the Scriptures say.
Godspeed to your recovery man!
I don't know who this guy is but anyone that rides on the street without a helmet does not think their head is worth too much. Anyone that rides in a populated area should realize that the public is aging and the "old folks" don't "see" you. Anyone that rides a Scooz Hayabusa on the street without a helmet is not too bright.
