The Steelers confirmed the accident for Channel 4 Action News.
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review said the accident happened on Second Avenue near the 10th Street Bridge.
A witness told Channel 4 Action News that Roethlisberger went over the handlebars, hit the windshield of another vehicle and then hit the ground.
Roethlisberger was not wearing a helmet, according to the paper.

Reporting during times like this can be very confused and contradictory. I remember the chaos following Carson Palmer's injury. Sensationalism takes over. Here's hoping that Roethlisberger's knees are alright, because from a career standpoint that's the most important thing. That broken jaw ain't gonna be fun though.
hehehe
Good news, hope it's accurate.
Someone named Darwin comes to mind. I try to feel sympathy tomorrow.
Prayers for his speedy and full recovery -- from this Browns fan.
excellent if true!
I've seen people pull the exact same idiot manuever of pulling out right in front of the pack with no motorcycle involved. My favorite is bringing up the back of the pack with nothing but empty road behind me and the idiot has been waiting for the pack to go by then suddenly they decide the 5 more seconds it would take to wait for me to pass is too long so they go right in front of my car. Some people are just idiot drivers, just because their eyes see you doesn't mean the brain does, the one advantage cars have the ability to cause more damage and thus increase the percent chance of their brain seeing you, but it's only an increase not a garauntee.

The witness, who declined to give her name, asked Roethlisberger several times if he was OK.
He eventually replied, "My name is Ben."
He asked: "Where am I?"
"You're at the Armstrong Tunnel," the witness said.
"What city is that in?" he said.
"Pittsburgh," the woman replied.
Roethlisberger fell silent for about a minute and then tried to stand up.
"I'm OK," he said.
"No you're not," said the woman, who instructed him to stay still...
Doesn't matter to me what other people do, but I wear a full face helmet with shield...I hate the bugs in my teeth.
Thats how I ride...I'm probably not in a blind spot for more than a second...either get past fast or fall back...always assume the cager doesn't see you!!!
What kind of traffic control/signals for left turns at that intersection?
In the opposite direction, a Chrysler was approaching and preparing to make the turn.
"I kept waiting for the motorcyclist to slow down," she said. "He never stopped and just plowed into the car."
The car, a New Yorker with Maine plates, was driven by Martha Fleishman, 62, of Squirrel Hill, who made a left turn toward the bridge in front of the cyclist. The motorcycle hit the car and Roethlisberger flew into the windshield and then hit the ground head first.
Roethlisberger was bleeding heavily from a head injury, and blood pooled on the pavement. The witness said he was not wearing a helmet
The entire front end of the motorcycle, was destroyed. The car sustained damage on the passenger side door. Fleishman's husband, Martin, confirmed in a telephone interview that his wife was the driver but said the couple didn't want to discuss what happened...
I'm not exactly sure. I'm 90% sure that there is not a left directional signal going east on Second Ave., but there maybe one going west on Second Ave.

I think it's rather odd that there have been no further updates from the hospital. Anything?
