ESPN Radio is reporting that Big Ben was injured in a motorcycle accident in Pittsburgh less than an hour ago. They said some bridge and tunnel were closed down so it sounds pretty serious.
Post updates if you hear them.
That's good.
Right, that's what I heard. Real foolish.
Good idea.
onooooooooo
No, he doesn't wear a helmet.. it was a big scandal in da burgh when he got his bike and it was found out he didn't wear a helmet....
Hopefully this was a low speed wake up call for him, and nothing more.
He's a good QB, but he was a liability in the super bowl.
He was supposed to start filming the Campbell's soup commercials tomorrow, I believe. Which chunky soup can you sip through a straw?
Cowher had warned him about this before. It's likely Ben was too busy dodging the saliva shower to really take in the mush-mouthed lecture.
If he had a "Chunky" contract, there may be something to the alleged "Chunky Curse." Terrell Davis, Kurt Warner, and Donovan McNabb have all been victims of it.
At least 6 stories about this posted in 45 minutes, 5 banished to chat and at least 1 pulled.
I'm not saying this should be in Breaking, but maybe if some of the mods weren't so triggerhappy to banish every story with the slightest tangential relationship to sports into chat 'Sports' topic only this might be less of a problem.
When someone high-profile like the Superbowl-winning quarterback is rushed to the hospital with a bloody head after a motorcycle accident where he refused to wear a helmet, that just might be news, because it is going to generate stories the rest of the week about helmet laws. Safety vs. individual freedom, how far should laws go, nanny state vs. social libertarianism/conservatism, certainly those are in the realm of politics.
OJ was accused of just a murder, but the story was much bigger than that with all kinds of political ramifications. But he was a former football player, so would all the stories about his arrest and trial have been banished to 'Sports'?
Anyone know what he rides?
