The Dragonflies' Lair~Thread XXVIII~

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

"The Dreams of My Heart"
by Sara Teasdale

The dreams of my heart and my mind pass,
Nothing stays with me long,
But I have had from a child
The deep solace of song;

If that should ever leave me,
Let me find death and stay
With things whose tunes are played out and forgotten
Like the rain of yesterday.

Jewls
by Sara Teasdale

If I should see your eyes again,
I know how far their look would go --
Back to a morning in the park
With sapphire shadows on the snow.

Or back to oak trees in the spring
When you unloosed my hair and kissed
The head that lay against your knees
In the leaf shadow's amethyst.

And still another shining place
We would remember -- how the dun
Wild mountain held us on its crest
One diamond morning white with sun.

But I will turn my eyes from you
As women turn to put away
The jewels they have worn at night
And cannot wear in sober day.

Summer Solstice

Summer arrive this morning in the East
I did not set my alarm clock to welcome her
knowing she would come without my permission anyway

She picked a fine day!
Summer is sweet today
no harbingers of old residue
hanging around the edges
a clean sweep she made in her gauzy gown
scattering sparkles in the early morning dew

A dew covered spider web glistened as the
morning sun turned the spot light on

She was very quiet, stepping on tiptoe in the garden
gracious, in her kindness sending warming sunbeams
splaying out her rays of iridescent colors

while the lone Fox Glove of the garden
offered Summer, a tiny bell sound of welcoming.
And Pansy lifted her velvet face for a warm kiss

Ah, the grace of Summer Solstice.

You make the most enjoyable graphics, Lady Jag. Ever consider an exhibition of your "electronic art"? You could print 20 or 30 of your finest creations up on ridiculously expensive photo paper and hang them in a small art boutique somewhere. Lots of coffee shops in trendy towns have artists work hanging on the walls of the shop (with a price tag attached!)

You could put together a really nice exhibition, especially if you include this piece!

That's really nice. There's something that makes it feel immediately familiar, like a story you're told every year. It seems like it threatens to wander, then seems like it threatens to end in a let down, then it glides in effortlessly for a perfect landing.

Don't take this the wrong way, but it seems like something that you see printed on an every day item, like a dinner place mat, or an embroidered picture hanging in the hallway.

The kind of thing you see everyday and don't think about, but leaves an impression. Definitely a win for the "soft" school of point making!

I'm not surprised with your eye for color. Don't happen to have any digitized copies of your paintings you could post, do you?

Hello Starbase.

LOL! Your critique is funny, guess my jet is not very ready for flight. Sounds like my engines are sputtering.*GRINS*

I did not put a great deal of effort into writing this morning. It's hard to write with door bells ringing, painters tromping through the house, etc.

I'm really glad I had a soft landing! Some days are hellish!

So far I've hesitated to post my paintings in order to maintain anonymity. Not that my work is world famous, but it has been exhibited here and there.
