THis is not the best of games....
As a non-fan who has trouble understanding some of the wierd terminology, the ABC feed is very hard to watch. At 61 minutes into the game, the audio (on DirecTV) has been lagging video by 6-10 seconds. Wouldn't be as bad in American football, as the plays have some time between them, but in a continual play game, like hockey or soccer, it is really ugly.
Zing! I don't want to get hit with a comment like that. I'm calling a truce until after the cup. If you baseball fans know what's good for you, you'll join me.

*Sigh* A little underwhelming. Oh well, hopefully they'll heat up as it goes on.
The fixtures are ordered well.....I reckon 3 or 4 against the Trinis and a 1-0 win, 1-1 draw or 2-1 win against Sweden.
I wonder if he will disappear into the German economy after the Cup? Doing a job Germans won't do.

But who cares about the English? They already invented soccer and have the most prestigious league worldwide, they don't need to win. I'm rooting for Germany and the US ;-).
(My dream outcome of the world cup would be Germany beating the US 7 - 5 in the final).

Sweden has got an average team, but has got two really decent strikers in Zlatan and Henke Larsson.
Germany was certainly more impressive than England.
It will be really interesting to see team USA.
Trinidadians play a lot of cricket so they won't be too bothered if we run up a cricket score against them.
I will be rooting for them against Sweden soon.
Being a Norwegian I want to see the Swedes crash and burn. LOL.

There's a reason for it and why risk blowing your lead if you don't have to. You still get three points regardless of how many goals you scored. And right now England is unbeaten and can look forward to their next game. We Americans lose sight of the fact a win is a win and you don't need win big to be a champ. In football, you can do it by shutting down the other side. Paraguay has some good players but they're not in the same league as heavyweights Argentina and Brazil, the quintessential South American giants in the sport. Brazil after all won the Jules Rimet Cup three times and in 1970 became the greatest football country in the world, period. Although I think Germany still has the home field advantage. After their stellar performance yesterday, I think they have a good shot of making the final next month.
Yeah, I really hope the US manages to surprise (for example by coming out on top of their "Group of Death"), because the element of surprise can carry you a long way. If anyone of you watched some Euro 2004 games, you know what I mean (Greece beating everyone else by playing unconventional).
Team USA in the Group Of Death. It will be a miracle if they make it to the second round. Hey I'd like a 1980 on grass but I'm not holding my breath. Let's just see how they fare with the Czechs on Monday. We're lucky to be in Germany at all.
I had the same problem with the HDTV feed. I switched to normal TV and the delay went away.
I didn't think their performance was stellar at all. They scored four goals but their defence was a shambles and they conceded two goals.
England's defence by contrast was well organised but we played a team hell bent on defence.
Germany have the easiest group and will be defeated early on in the knockout stage.
England always start off slowly in these things so a win is good news. We need to get Wayne Rooney fit though as he is the man who can beat teams like Argentina and Brazil.
