One of the most fancied teams in Germany, England will open their FIFA World Cup campaign against Group B rivals Paraguay today -- LIVE NOW on ABC: England v Paraguay
Kick a ball, yes. Play soccer, no. Soccer isn't just mindlessly kicking a ball around. In High School I could make fools of any non-soccer player. Just stand around and they still couldn't take it. Kinda funny actually. Each sport is different and requires different skills.
BTW- If you want to see skill, watch the closeups of the soccer players. When you watch the whole game you easily miss all the amazing moves and subtle touches they do. It's not simply kicking a soccer ball around. (I guess that each person tends to underestimate the skills needed to play a sport. To me, baseball looks simple and stupid. It isn't, I know that. But it SEEMS that way)
Great game, though.
I think on paper, it is the game of the tournament so far.
Let's see how it plays out.
In any event, T&T rose to the occasion in heroic fashion.
I suppose soccer is so popular worldwide because it appeals to the lowest common denominator.
Soccer is one of the few sports where the players are less likely to get injured than the spectators.
They sure did. But Sweden missed so many opportunities. No finishers at all on that squad.
You can bet she wasn't smiling after the game.
You are a troll I am going to stop feeding you.
Have fun. Game 73 or some crap of some baseball team's season is on. Go watch.
One of the best experiences of my life was during World Cup 1994 up at Stanford. Oh my goodness, the female Brazilian fans were, ummm lovely and they could dance.
An addition: In high school P.E. we played many sports. In baseball you couldn't tell who played what sport. I actually hit the ball much better than the "baseball players". So did many non-sports players. In football, everyone was equal except for the two biggest football players (280, 230 pounds). In soccer, everyone except for the 3 or 4 soccer players just kicked the ball any which way. They were lost and confuseded. The soccer players did all kinds of moves, scored goals, etc.
Summary: In my gym class, soccer was the hardest sport and the soccer players did as well as anyone else in any sport; oftentimes we were the best.
</rant> Thanks for your time. Please don't take it personal. Support America.
I was in Miami Beach in 94 when the US played Brazil, mostly Brazil fans in the bar, but it was a ton of fun watching the game, although the good guys lost.
So you are giving them names now, eh? :)
LOL...
