DIXIE CHICKS SCRAP MEMPHIS SHOW DUE TO LACK OF INTEREST

Country trio the DIXIE CHICKS have been forced to scrap an upcoming show in Memphis, Tennessee, because locals don't want to see the girls live.
It seems Memphis music fans still haven't forgiven the WIDE OPEN SPACES hitmakers' comments about US President GEORGE W BUSH in 2003.
Singer NATALIE MAINES became a target for Republicans and Bush fans after she declared she was ashamed to come from the same state (Texas) as the President during a concert in London.
Her bandmates were then ostracised for supporting their outspoken singer, and the group's music was banned from some US country music radio stations and their records trampled underfoot at public protests.
And, even though the Chicks have scored a number one album in America with their new release, TAKING THE LONG WAY, it seems many former fans refuse to forgive them.
The trio pulled the September (06) show in Memphis due to poor ticket sales and it looks as if the same fate could befall concerts in Oklahoma City and Houston, Texas. Tickets for both arena shows are failing to sell. Ironically, the trio landed the top-grossing country tour of 2003 when they last performed across America - after the comments made in London.

"If they had any brains they'd ditch her and find another lead singer."
The 2 sisters dumped their lead singer/founding member to hire the fat girl. They have no sense of loyalty.

Way to go Memphis!
I knew there had to be some reason I liked living and working here (other than no more 2 hour commute each way when I lived in NY)!

I read somewhere today that they postponed their St. Louis tour date until September - so they can expand their foreign tour.
I reckon they plan on trying to let it die down, then try to slip a song or two on the radio when no one is looking, and build momentum from there.

And, even though the Chicks have scored a number one album in America with their new release #1 because the release didn't have any other competition in new releases. The small core fans have already made their purchases. Sales have slowed to a trickle and the album is tanking. See where it is on the charts next month and laugh.

CHICAGO, June 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Wicked was finally dethroned in May from its number one spot on TicketsNow's index of best selling events. The American Idols Live tour, with 6.30% of overall sales, was the top seller on TicketsNow. The tour is shaping up to be the biggest concert series of the summer, leading the concert category with 17.05% of sales.

"This show appeals to a wide variety of our customers." Wicked didn't fall far; it dominated the theater category with 36.72% of sales and maintaining the number two spot overall, with 5.85%. Monty Python's Spamalot also had a strong showing this month coming in at number two in the theater category with 10.17% of sales.
As the summer heats up, the drama of baseball season continues to build. Baseball teams occupy five of the top ten spots overall in the TicketsNow May Entertainment Index. I am also surprised that Air America isn't play "the Dixie Chicks, all day, all the time".
Dems can't support anything. Not radio, not music groups. Al Dems can support is hate.
